3-star wing Joey Hart will visit Kentucky

Kentucky basketball has scholarships to fill. A high school prospect with a strong reputation as a shooter is emerging as a legitimate option.

Linton (Ind.) Stockton grad Joey Hart decommitted from UCF on May 11. John Calipari’s staff is working quickly to build a relationship with the three-star prospect. Jeff Goodman is reporting that the three-point specialist will be in Lexington next week for a visit.

Joey Hart, a 6-5 wing from Linton-Stockton High in Indiana who de-committed from UCF, plans to visit Kentucky next week, source told @Stadium. Indiana and Rutgers also in mix, per source. Hart shot 41 percent from 3 this past season and also led UAA in 3’s made.

Hart is receiving legitimate power conference interest late in this recruiting cycle and Kentucky is looking to potentially add the shooter to the bench next season. Hart had reported offers from Ball State, Drake, Indiana State, Loyola-Chicago, Northwestern, and Wichita State before committing to UCF back in August. Hart signed with the Knights in November, but was given a release in May.

Kentucky currently has only seven scholarship players on the roster. There is still room to add multiple players before the Cats head to Canada in July for international competition. Hart could become the sixth freshmen to join the roster.
