LSU hosting another top 2025 QB prospect
The LSU football staff’s pursuit of quarterbacks in the 2025 recruiting cycle has been spearheaded by quarterbacks coach Joe Sloan.
After signing Louisiana four-star Rickie Collins in the 2023 class, Sloan and LSU followed the local addition up with a verbal commitment from Florida four-star Colin Hurley for the current 2024 class.
Looking ahead to the 2025 cycle, Sloan has just two scholarship offers out at quarterback: Michigan’s Bryce Underwood and Tennessee’s George MacIntyre.
MacIntyre was on campus Friday for an overnight stay in Baton Rouge, while Underwood is set to return to LSU later this month.
On Saturday, the Tigers welcome another one of the hottest quarterback names to campus when Ohio’s Tavien St. Clair visits Baton Rouge.
St. Clair sees his recruitment heat up
The 6-foot-3, 190-pound junior is quickly becoming one of the most-talked about quarterback prospects in the 2025 cycle.
A week ago, Ohio State handed out the program’s third quarterback offer in the 2025 class when the Buckeyes extended a verbal scholarship to the in-state target.
Michigan is still keeping close tabs on St. Clair, who also holds offers from the likes of Florida, Tennessee and Penn State.
“My plan is to get up there to workout at a camp,” St. Clair said of his interest in Michigan. “(An offer) would be a big deal because I’ve been watching Michigan ever since I was a little kid. They’re a big-time program so getting an offer from them would be a big deal.”
With an offer in from the Buckeyes, St. Clair’s stock is on the rise as quarterback dominos begin to drop for next year’s recruiting cycle.
LSU gets another top QB to campus
While the Tigers enter the weekend with offers out to only MacIntyre and Underwood, LSU has done plenty of research on the rest of the 2025 quarterbacks – a group that’s deep with intriguing names who continue to emerge following sophomore seasons.
Now, Sloan and LSU get St. Clair to campus for a weekend visit, and the Ohio native is on potential “offer watch” as the Tigers continue to dig deeper into the 2025 quarterback crop.
MacIntyre and Underwood have both made multiple visits to LSU across the past six months, as have other top quarterbacks from the 2025 class.
Sloan and the Tigers not only hosted MacIntyre on Friday, but also Top 300 quarterback Husan Longstreet out of California. Next week, a number of the top 2025 quarterbacks will be in attendance for camp, including the nation’s No. 4 quarterback prospect in Mississippi’s Deuce Knight.
