Two Local Childhood Friends Hoping to Earn USC Offers Sunday

Two Local Childhood Friends Hoping to Earn USC Offers Sunday

Although the biggest storyline at USC is the 12 official visitors on campus June 2-4, Lincoln Riley and staff also host their first Summer Football Camp on Howard Jones and Allyson Felix Fields Sunday. Tomorrow afternoon’s Elite Camp will the be first of nine camps the Trojans will hold in June. There will be two more Elite Camps on June 10 and June 23. Those three Elite Camps are where WeAreSC will focus most of our attention.

While scholarships are often offered without college coaches seeing prospects in person, there are still a significant number of kids who earn them the old-fashioned way….they EARN them at Summer camps. There won’t be a majority of Top 2024 USC recruits as these camps, there will be a few hoping to earn and offer from the Trojans as Tobias Raymond did last June.

Most of the guys earning offers Sunday and at the eight other June USC football camps will be 2025 and 2026 prospects. Two of the guys competing tomorrow we like a lot, have known each other since they were around eight years old. Just to put this in perspective, that’s nearly half their lives.

4-Star 2025 Narbonne LB Mark Iheanchor

Four-Star 2025 LB Mark Iheanachor from Narbonne HS in Harbor City and 4-Star 2025 Edge Chinedu Onyeagoro from King Drew HS in Los Angeles are the two talented kids I’m referring to. These two are not only extremely impressive on the field, they’re impressive off the field.

“I’ve known him since I was seven or eight,” said Iheanachor. “”We went to the same church when we were young. He always played basketball and I was trying to get him to play football.”

Iheanachor already visited USC earlier this Winter and told us in March he hoped to get back to USC often. He shared how the decision to attend the first USC Elite Camp came about.

“I chose to come to USC camp, because of the tremendous reputation the program holds and the valuable learning experience I’ll gain,” said Iheanachor. “Also I believe that attending the camp will not only allow me to improve my skills as a football player, but also provide me with an opportunity to showcase my athleticism and abilities in front of the coaching staff. I’m committed to taking my game to the next level. And I believe this camp will offer me the platform to challenge myself, learn from and be coached by one of the best.”

Being coached up by the USC Linebackers coach Brian Odom will also permit Iheanachor an opportunity to get know him better.

I’ve been talking to Coach Brian Odom,” Iheanachor said. “He camp up to the school in June, but I couldn’t practice. So, I can’t wait to show out in front of him. He was excited that I will be at the camp!!”

As of June 2, Iheanachor has earned offers from Washington, ASU, Arizona, Cal, Washington St., SMU, UNLV and Colorado St.

4-Star 2025 King Drew Edge Chinedu Onyeagoro

Despite not talking to Onyeagoro prior to publishing this, we know the USC offer is one he hopes to earn….like childhood buddy Iheanachor. Onyeagoro hasn’t earned as many offers as Iheanachor, but Washington, Colorado St. and ASU have offered.

WeAreSC will talk to both after the camp tomorrow. Don’t be surprised if we’re talking about an offer or two earned.

If they do both earn offers, it could lead to both ending up at USC….or any other school that’s offered both.

“That’s like my other half,” Iheanachor said about Onyeagoro. “Whoever gets one of us is getting the other. We plan on going to the same school.”
