LOOK: Paris High School debuts new orange-colored football field

Paris High School decided to give Boise State’s field a run for its money.

On Friday night out in Paris, KY, the Greyhounds unveiled its new orange-colored football field at Blanton Collier Stadium in a 27-6 win over Frankfort High School to begin the 2024 regular season. And when I say orange, I mean very orange — almost neon-like. The endzones are a gray color and the middle of the field features the school’s Greyhound logo, but the rest of the field is a very bright pumpkin orange that actually looks pretty cool in person.

As part of the stadium’s upgrades, fireworks shoot off from the back left corner of the field following a Paris touchdown, which you can see in the video below. According to the Herald-Leader, this new orange field was all part of a $2.8 million renovation that will soon include a new jumbotron scoreboard.

Come Halloween, this field will be incredibly appropriate. Paris was even rocking black and orange jerseys during the win to fully buy into the spooky season vibes. The stadium was nearly full too as fans and locals had to get a first-hand look at the nontraditional field.

Paris isn’t the only high school in Kentucky that went away from the usual green turf either. Warren East (blue), Ludlow (red), and North Oldham (teal) all took a different route for the 2024 season. Personally, I’m all for the switch-up in field color. It puts a spotlight on some of the smaller schools in the state and brings more eyes to the teams playing on them.
