Florida State WR Hykeem Williams to miss season opener vs. Georgia Tech
DUBLIN, Ireland — The Florida State football team won’t have one of its highest-profile wide receivers available when the Seminoles open the season today against Georgia Tech.
Sophomore wideout Hykeem Williams, who was a marquee recruit in the Seminoles’ 2023 recruiting class, will miss the opener, a Florida State spokesman confirmed to Warchant.
The 6-foot-2, 215-pounder from South Florida appeared in eight games last season and caught five passes for 80 yards and a touchdown.
On the depth chart Florida State released earlier this week, Williams was listed as a backup behind starter Malik Benson. The other backup at that position was senior Kentron Poitier.
Florida State and Georgia Tech are scheduled to play at noon ET on ESPN.
