Nebraska HoF inductee mentoring 2026 OT target Mataalii Benjamin

West Valley City (Utah) Skyridge junior offensive tackle Mataalii Benjamin is a name Nebraska fans need to get to know. The 6-foot-6 and 305-pound Benjamin is on Nebraska’s radar, and the Huskers are trying to get him to take a trip to Lincoln for a game this fall. Nebraska has an ace in the hole. Benjamin’s mentor is a Nebraska alum who has given him information about the Huskers.

“I really do appreciate the love and support that Nebraska football has shown me these past months,” Benjamin said. “I believe that Coach Raiola is trying to build a strong foundation for the offensive line group, and I have nothing but respect for Coach Raiola; I am thankful for the given opportunity.”

Coach Raiola is trying to get the standout junior offensive tackle to come to a game this fall in Lincoln. Benjamin is interested but hasn’t set up the trip to Nebraska or any schools yet.

“He mentioned visiting Lincoln for a game to me,” Benjamin said. “I’ve never been to Nebraska, but I would love to visit there someday. A few other coaches are also trying to set up a visit for me this fall, but nothing is confirmed yet.”

Mataalii Benjamin put in a lot of work before his junior year

Benjamin gets a chance to start for Skyridge this year. He is anxious to show that he is capable and knows that the team this year returns a lot of key players and could make another run at the finals.

“I was a backup last year, and now it’s my time, and I can’t wait to prove myself,” Benjamin said. ‘The team has a lot of returning guys, and we are ready to go back to the finals.”

“My trainer is a Nebraska alum,” Benjamin said. “His name is Toniu Fonoti. We worked a lot this offseason on my footwork and pass sets with my trainer. I have been working with him, and he mentioned that coach Raiola is a great offensive line coach.”
