Oregon 2026 Recruiting Snapshot: Quarterback

Oregon 2026 Recruiting Snapshot: Quarterback

Oregon’s 2026 class is off to a great start, as Dan Lanning and the Ducks currently have the No. 1 class in the country according to the On3 rankings.

Today I’m continuing a recruiting series that we did in the 2025 class called recruiting snapshot, where I take a closer look at Oregon’s recruiting efforts position by position. The series discusses the prospects Oregon has verbally committed as well as the prospects they continue to recruit.

Commits: 1

Jonas Williams (Frankfort, IL)

Williams committed to the Ducks last month over the likes of LSU, Alabama and Ohio State. It’s really important that Oregon got their quarterback in the fold early, as now they can build a class around him and he can help the staff recruit other prospects.

He’s the new face of the team’s recruiting efforts in the Midwest, an area that’s typically dominated year after year by Ohio State, Michigan and other Big Ten programs.

Williams is a bit of a smaller quarterback at 6’1.5″, 200 pounds, but he can make all the throws you need and has plus athleticism that forces defenses to account for his running ability as well.

Targets: 1

Ryder Lyons (Folsom, CA)

With Williams in the fold, there really aren’t that many more names for fans to track. With Jaden O’Neal (Narbonne) and Brady Smigiel (Newbury Park) off the board to Oklahoma and Florida State respectively, Lyons is the last domino to fall at quarterback out West, specifically in California.

Both Oregon and USC have emerged as two of the schools with the most traction in his recruitment, although he has yet to announce a commitment date. He’s got 31 reported scholarship offers and will have his pick of just about any school. There’s been a lot of talk around him possibly taking a mission trip following his high school career, which could mean schools are viewing him as more of a 2027 prospect.

His older brother Walker Lyons committed to USC coming out of high school in the 2024 class and it looks like the plan is for him to rejoin the team in the fall. I think what USC is able to do on the field this season with Miller Moss could carry some weight in where Lyons ultimately sees himself playing his college football.

He’s raved about Will Stein and their relationship each time I’ve spoken with him, but it feels like Oregon has some ground to make up here.

Other names to watch: 2

Helaman Casuga (Draper, UT)

Casuga is widely-regarded as one of the best passers in Utah, playing for state powerhouse Corner Canyon, the same school that produced former Oregon center Jackson Powers-Johnson, as well as Broncos quarterback Zach Wilson, Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart, Ohio State quarterback Devin Brown and most recently Utah quarterback Isaac Wilson.

Texas A&M leads the On3 RPM with a prediction from Steve Wiltfong. Given the proximity and Oregon’s ties to the state of Utah, Casuga could be worth monitoring.

Landon Duckworth (Jackson, AL)

Duckworth backed off a commitment to South Carolina earlier this summer after being pledged to the Gamecocks since August of last year. Oregon extended an offer back in the spring and are likely fighting an uphill battle due to distance.

The Ducks have had momentum with Alabama quarterbacks in the past, with Robby Ashford, who’s now at Alabama, as well as former verbal commit Tanner Bailey in the 2022 class, and of course Bo Nix. I haven’t heard much in terms of buzz linking Duckworth to Oregon, but maybe the staff can get him out to Eugene for a game this year.

Regardless of who ends up signing with Oregon in the 2026 class, you can bet they’ll more than likely be joining a talented room, even if Dante Moore ends up heading to the NFL after the 2025 season.
