On3 RPM: Elite prospect to Iowa

When the process for Edwardsville (Ill.) High On3 Industry five-star defensive lineman Iose Epenesa first started, the assumption was he would go to Iowa like his father and two older brothers.

That could still happen , but it hasn’t been an easy recruitment for Kirk Ferentz and his staff.

For much of the spring and summer, the younger Epenesa looked steadfast on doing his own thing. Utah, Miami, Missouri and Penn State were the four schools that had his attention.

But as he tries to make a college decision before the start of his senior season, the family tells On3 that the dialogue is coming back towards Iowa. An official visit to Iowa City in June was a huge eye-opener. The Epenesa family was back on campus this past weekend in a non-recruiting capacity to watch Eric practice and hang out with him.

Dotting Is and crossing Ts on this recruitment, Iowa looks like the program to beat and with that I’ve logged an On3 RPM. A decision could come very soon with the season opener fast approaching.

The Hawkeyes have 13 commits in the 2025 class. They’d love to add Epenesa to the mix moving forward.
