Ole Miss basketball recruits drawing rave reviews from On3 insider

Ole Miss basketball recruits drawing rave reviews from On3 insider

Chris Beard and the Ole Miss Rebels are anxiously awaiting the start of the 2024-2025 season. Ole Miss signed one of the best transfer portal classes this cycle and return several key contributors. On the recruiting trail, the Rebels have landed two four-stars in the 2025 class.

Now, the staff hopes to land a few more to close out a star-studded group of signees. On3’s Jamie Shaw has ranked several top recruits and has highlighted what they do best. Let’s take a look.

4-star SG Kaden Magwood – No. 110 overall

Kaden Magwood experienced an electric summer playing with the Team Loaded Va program on the Adidas 3SSB Circuit. The 6-foot-1 guard who transferred to play his senior season at Lincolnton (NC) Combine Academy, showed he could create clean looks consistently in the half-court. He has a smooth shooting stroke and he handles the ball with the utmost confidence, able to rise up, on balance, from multiple levels on the court. He averaged 22.5 points on 51.2 percent from the field and 46.0 percent from three.

Through his time with Team Loaded Va on the Adidas 3SSB Circuit, he averaged 20.4 points, but most notably the 6-foot-1 guard shot 46.0 percent from three on 5.1 attempts per game. Magwood is offensively gifted, able to get to spots off the bounce and knock down shots consistently. He has an excellent shot release and great balance and body control getting consistently squared off of movement or the bounce. His threat as a shooter opens up his game off the bounce, he is one in this class that can truly erupt for a lot of points in a hurry.”

Magwood is set to officially visit Ole Miss August 31 for football’s home opener versus Furman. He will also travel to Wake Forest, N.C. State, Auburn, Kansas, Georgia Tech, Vanderbilt, Mississippi State, Memphis and Louisville.

4-star PF Tylis Jordan – No. 27 overall (COMMITTED TO OLE MISS)

“Watching Tylis Jordan play, it is hard not to envision the future. At 6-foot-9, and pushing 6-foot-10 Jordan has a lengthy and very fluid frame. You see him defending on the ball in trapping-type systems, sliding his feet, and switching with perimeter-based wings and forwards. In the same possession, Jordan will switch down a lineup and guard on the block. He has nice off-ball timing, both in the passing lanes and as a rim protector. Jordan has a lot of tools that translate to the highest levels. His size, timing/instincts and fluid athleticism are unique. Continue to pay attention.”

Jordan is Ole Miss’ highest-ranked commit. The other 2025 commit is Frenship (Tex.) four-star shooting guard Patton Pinkins.
