QB Flip Intel: Deuce Knight, Julian Lewis, Husan Longstreet
There are no remaining uncommitted prospects among the top 50 quarterbacks of the On3 Industry Ranking.
Time is running out for programs still looking for an elite passer in the 2025 class, so some teams may look to flip a recruit’s commitment before signing day.
On3’s Steve Wiltfong has the latest on three of the top flip targets in the senior class: Deuce Knight, Julian Lewis and Husan Longstreet.
Notre Dame 4-star commit Deuce Knight
Knight has been committed to Notre Dame since Sept. 18 of last year. A Mississippi native, Knight has continued to take visits around the SEC — most notably to Auburn and Ole Miss.
“My On3 RPM is on Auburn for Deuce Knight,” Wiltfong said Tuesday. “I think, as I talk to you today, that’s where I ultimately see him still landing. But, Ole Miss is still in there for the Notre Dame quarterback commit and the Fighting Irish hoping he takes it into the season. Looking to get off to a fast start against Texas A&M on the road in primetime and go from there. But, I think he wants to play in the SEC. I give the edge to Auburn over Ole Miss right now.”
Wiltfong added that there does not appear to be an imminent decision date on whether or not Knight will stick with the Irish.
“A lot of people are putting dates out there. Talking to Deuce Knight’s dad just tonight, I did not get the sense that there was going to be an announcement as early as maybe some projected,” Wiltfong said. “So we will see how it goes going into September if it gets to September. But right now, I still like where Auburn sits. Ole Miss is the dark horse and Notre Dame is battling to hang on.”
USC 5-star QB pledge Julian Lewis
Julian Lewis has had one of the more interesting recruitments to date in the 2025 class. Initially a 2026 quarterback, Lewis reclassified this past winter after committing to USC. Lewis has continued to take visits to places like Colorado, Indiana and Auburn; and he has yet to fully shut down his recruitment.
“Julian Lewis has long been committed to USC. I think that Lincoln Riley and company are working to try and get him to shut down this process and 100% lock in with the Trojans,” Wiltfong said. “If they do that, they will stop flirting with (Texas A&M commit) Husan Longstreet.”
Wiltfong said that while Lewis may have had some leverage with his recruitment at some point — in terms of taking visits elsewhere — that wiggle room may be running out.
“Well, it’s a crucial week, I think. I don’t know if he has all the leverage anymore if USC can get in on another quarterback,” Wiltfong said. “If he truly wants to go to USC, he risks them going another way. If it’s not Husan Longstreet, we know Lincoln Riley is going to have an opportunity to flip somebody who is really good at the quarterback position.
“So, I think that at some point, USC is really going to say — ‘Alright, well if you’re not locking in, perhaps we’re moving on.’ Because the line could be long of quarterbacks who want to play for Lincoln Riley. He doesn’t have to recruit many quarterbacks each cycle. . . We know USC has got a lot of resources, we know what Lincoln Riley has done with quarterbacks. So I think that we’re to a point, now, where it’s time for Julian Lewis to make his final decision on USC — or we could see the Trojans really ramp it up elsewhere. They’re flirting right now, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they ramped it up elsewhere if they don’t get some finality from Julian Lewis.”
Texas A&M 5-star QB commit Husan Longstreet
Amidst the fog surrounding Julian Lewis’ commitment status, USC has opened a line of communication with Texas A&M five-star commit Husan Longstreet, a California native.
“I talked with Husan Longstreet’s family last week — they had some exciting dialogue with USC,” Wiltfong said. “Certainly sees why it’s an exciting place to go play quarterback, it’s close to home. But, I still like where Texas A&M with Husan Longstreet right now. They’re saying all the right things. His dad told me it’s going to be a tough flip. We’ll see what happens, though, if USC really has to turn it up for Husan Longstreet. Right now, I think they’re trying to shut things down with Julian Lewis.”
