Lucky Charms: Which Notre Dame 2025 commits will enroll early?

Lucky Charms: Which Notre Dame 2025 commits will enroll early?

Here are today’s Lucky Charms, a Monday-Thursday insider notes article on Notre Dame football recruiting.

While it may seem like National Signing Day is a long ways away, it’ll be here before you know it. The December signing period is four months and one week away, and then a couple weeks later, the Irish will welcome another double-digit group of early enrollees to campus.

Of course, there are still possibilities of additions to the early enrollee list with Notre Dame looking to add more recruits to its 2025 class, but there is also a potential of recruits leaving the class.

As of now, the Irish have 11 of their 22 commitments set to enroll early. And six of those 11 players play on the offensive side of the ball.

It obviously remains to be seen whether Lucedale (Miss.) George County quarterback Deuce Knight sticks with his Notre Dame pledge. The buzz is strongest around Auburn, but Notre Dame and Ole Miss are still battling. If Knight sticks with the Irish, he would be an early enrollee.

Bryant (Ark.) High running back Daniel Anderson, Wayne (N.J.) High wide receiver Elijah Burress and Atlanta Woodward Academy pass catcher Jerome Bettis Jr. all plan to enroll early as well.

Two of the Irish’s three offensive line verbals will enroll early — Greenwich (Conn.) Brunswick School’s Matty Augustine and Waukesha (Wis.) Catholic Memorial’s Owen Strebig.

Moving to the defensive side of the ball, one D-line commit is able to enroll early, and that’s Miami Palmetto’s Davion Dixon, a beefy interior prospect. At linebacker, one Irish commit will enroll early, and that’s Honolulu Punahou’s Ko’o Kia.

Three of Notre Dame’s six defensive back commits plan to get to ND in Janaury, and they are Phoenix Brophy Prep cornerback Cree Thomas, Winston-Salem (N.C.) Mount Tabor safety JaDon Blair and Greenwich (Conn.) Brunswick School’s Ethan Long.

Several other Irish pledges would like to enroll early but are not able to due to some high schools not allowing early graduations.

Notre Dame had a school-record 15 early enrollees in the 2024 recruiting cycle. CJ Carr, Cole Mullins, Bryce Young, Sean Sevillano Jr., Anthonie Knapp, Jack Larsen, Loghan Thomas, Peter Jones, Micah Gilbert, Styles Prescod, Kedren Young, Cam Williams, Aneyas Williams, Kennedy Urlacher and Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa were those players.

On Jan. 16, 2006, Notre Dame welcomed its first three early enrollees into its football program: Indiana running back James Aldridge, Texas offensive lineman Chris Stewart and Oklahoma wide receiver George West.
