Torres’ Take: Oregon Favored to Land 2026 OT

Torres’ Take: Oregon Favored to Land 2026 OT

Oregon has gotten the ball rolling in a major way with the 2026 recruiting class this summer. They hold commitments from a trio of prospects ranked inside the top-100 according to the On3 Industry rankings.

One of Oregon’s top targets, Santa Ana (Calf.) Mater Dei offensive tackle Kodi Greene, is scheduled to announce his college commitment on Monday afternoon and I’ve logged my prediction in favor of the Ducks.

Explaining the Pick

Mater Dei Connection

Oregon has signed a player from Mater Dei in each of the past two cycles, but they’ve been building a pipeline from Santa Ana to Eugene for a number of years dating back to the Mario Cristobal era. Looking at the offensive line, the Ducks signed Lipe Moala in the 2023 class and were a finalist for Brandon Baker before he ended up at Texas.

Now in 2025 the staff is back to work and their efforts look like they’re paying off with verbal commitments from Nasir Wyatt and Jordon Davison, two players they’ve prioritized for a long time. I’d wager they have the best pipeline to the program of any of his finalists, which also include USC, Michigan and Washington.

Relationships are Key

A’lique Terry has been a tremendous addition to the Oregon staff. After producing one of the best offensive lines in America last year, he also carried his weight on the recruiting trail by signing a batch of recruits in 2024 highlighted by All-Americans Jac’Qawn McRoy and Fox Crader. That’s not counting some of the recruits at other positions he undoubtedly helped the Ducks land as well.

Greene has spoken very highly of his relationship with Terry from the moment he started recruiting him back when he was the top player in his class in the state of Washington. He also told me how much he likes how much of a priority the O-line is for Oregon, as is evidenced by the numerous coaches they have dedicated to the position.

Relationships are the main priority for him heading into this decision and I get the feel the Ducks have done the best job developing them here.

Getting Back on Track

Oregon’s been missing on some offensive line targets in the 2025 class, with Aaron Dunn being the most recent after choosing Utah over Oregon and USC. Part of the reason I think the staff gets this one done is because they need to.

That may sound obvious but with how long they’ve prioritized Greene and how they need along the O-line I think he’ll up a Duck. They’ve put a lot of time and effort into this recruitment and they want to right the ship when it comes to landing top targets, especially those on the West Coast.

Washington is the biggest contender here with him being from the state and his brother playing there, but I don’t get the sense the new Husky staff under Jedd Fisch has done enough to unseat Oregon.

The Bottom Line

Oregon has been in line to see their recruiting efforts pay off in the 2026 class and Greene should add some nice juice to a haul that already sits at the top of the team rankings. He told me in an interview when I was at my last spot that Oregon was his leader and I don’t think there’s another team that’s done enough to change that.

All that said, this would be a very early commitment and Oregon won’t be able to afford letting off the gas for an instant. It’s trending toward being a good news day for the Ducks on Monday.
