Michigan early leader for On300 2025 RB Iverson Howard

Michigan hosted several talented underclassmen this spring, including Iverson Howard.

The On300 2025 running back out of Gaithersburg (Md.) Quince Orchard made his first ever visit to Michigan earlier this month and enjoyed his time in Ann Arbor.

“It was a great visit overall,” Howard said. “The thing that impressed me the most was their workout program and how everybody gained a lot of weight. The campus was great. There were some little kids on a tour, and they all wanted to take pictures with me. It was a great atmosphere.”’

Another highlight of the visit for Howard was getting plenty of individual time with Michigan running backs coach Mike Hart.

“Coach Hart puts a lot of pressure on you, but I like that,” Howard said. “He’s trying to get me to go back out there again. I like how he’s straightforward. Everything he says is straight facts. He wasn’t trying to play around at all. He said I would fit in great.”

Howard also had an opportunity to meet Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh.

“Off of watching him on TV, I thought Coach Harbaugh was a serious guy,” Howard said. “But he was playing around a little bit. We had some fun. I know he coached in a Super Bowl, and he might be someone I’d want to play for in the future.”

Michigan even got a boost in this recruitment from star running back and Heisman contender Blake Corum, a fellow DMV native.

Corum carved out some time to hang out with Howard during the visit and talked to him about the benefits of Michigan.

“I actually ran into Blake, and he told me a lot about the offense,” Howard said. “He told me how great it was and how they run a gap scheme, which is what we do at my high school. Blake is a funny guy. He showed me how much weight he gained in the offseason. I was impressed.”

So where does Michigan stand coming out of the visit?

“Michigan definitely moved to the top of my board,” Howard said. “It was just a great visit all around. I liked everything. I’ll definitely be back for another visit.”

Along with Michigan, Howard holds offers from Georgia, Miami, Michigan State, Ole Miss, Oregon, Penn State, Wisconsin and others.

At 5-foot-10, 180 pounds, Howard is ranked as the No. 12 running back and No. 130 overall prospect nationally, per On3.
