Mississippi State continues to stand out to 2026 OL Charles Humphrey
Back in June, 2026 offensive lineman prospect Charles Humphrey put together a solid camp performance at Mississippi State. After that showing at camp, Humphrey left campus that day with his first SEC offer from Mississippi State.
In late July, the Memphis Academy Science Engineering product returned to Starkville for Bulldog Bash and had another enjoyable experience with head coach Jeff Lebby and his staff. Along with State, Humphrey also holds offers from Oregon, Toledo, Memphis and Arkansas State among others.
“It went great,” Humphrey recalled. “I got to be around the coaches more and had a lot of fun. My favorite part was just that, getting to meet all of the coaches and getting to know them. It was good to have just normal conversations that weren’t about football.”
At Bulldog Bash, Humphrey was one of several 2026 offensive linemen at Lebby’s house along with 2025 State commits and offensive linemen Mario Nash and Josiah Clemons. Humphrey was able to meet some of those fellow State targets in the Class of 2026.
“I got to meet some of the other guys there,” added the 6-foot-6 and 270-pound Humphrey. “I was with all of the other offensive linemen there, mostly guys that are in my class. It was good to meet some of their commitments, too, that were there.”
Since collecting his State offer, Humphrey has been able to get to know offensive line coach Cody Kennedy better over the past several weeks. And Humphrey has been impressed with the message he’s received from Kennedy and the State coaches.
“Coach Kennedy is a good guy and coach,” Humphrey remarked. “He was saying even if I don’t choose to go to Mississippi State, they still want to have that bond and relationship with me. They said they just want me to be the best version of myself that I can be. They said my future depends on me making good decisions.”
With his junior season steadily approaching, Humphrey said his trip to Starkville was his final summer visit. He does plan to catch a few teams in action this fall and that includes a return trip to Mississippi State.
“I’m done with visits until the season,” Humphrey mentioned. “But this season I’m going to Mississippi State, of course, and probably Oregon. I also plan to go see LSU, too.
“Overall, I’m not worried about recruiting and it’s all about the season now. I am just getting prepared for my season now and then I will take those visits after we get the season started.”
That being said, Humphrey does have an early frontrunner in his recruiting process and noted of the reason why. Before his trip to Bulldog Bash, Humphrey had State as his top favorite and that bond only got stronger after his return trip to Starkville.
“None of that changed and I still have Mississippi State at the top,” noted Humphrey. “I just like the coaches and I like how they are more into me than just football. They don’t want me just as a football player but they want me to come there and develop me as a person. So it’s about more than football with them.”
