Oregon, USC and Utah wait on four-star OL Aaron Dunn’s commitment

Oregon, USC and Utah wait on four-star OL Aaron Dunn’s commitment

Spanish Fork (Utah) High On3 Industry four-star offensive tackle Aaron Dunn will announce his college decision on Thursday.

Three programs are hoping they get the call.

The 6-foot-7 1/2, 288-pound Dunn narrowed his choices to Oregon, USC and Utah. He will makes his plans public at 3:00 local time during a ceremony at his school.

“When he gives a verbal commitment his plan is to keep it and go there and there won’t be any more visits,” his father Greg told On3.

Dunn took several visits to each of his finalists, weighted the pros and the few cons each had and has landed on one.

“It was a real hard decision,” the elder Dunn said. “I know it’s going to be hard to let the other two know.

“He’s excited for his senior year of football and being a mid-year and heading to college in January.

Dunn also strongly considered BYU and UCLA before zeroing in on the Ducks, Trojans and Utes.

Breaking down the finalists

Greg Dunn highlighted what his son liked about his final three.

Regarding Oregon: “They have a phenomenal program there. Facilities are phenomenal and they’re improving them with their additions. Just awesome coaching staff. Awesome coaches that have experience at big schools. Dan Lanning, awesome head coach. Oregon has a great relationship with Nike. A’lique Terry awesome line coach and usually one of the Top 10 defenses in football. You’re going up against them in practice before you play on Saturday.”

Regarding USC: “You got a lot of sunshine. It’s LA. You got a really, really good coaching staff. Lincoln Riley is a younger coach. In the last decade he’s coached three Heisman Trophy winners. You have to have a good offensive line protecting that quarterback. And good skill positions. Josh Henson is an awesome o-line coach and really, really good guy. The whole coaching staff at USC is amazing and the campus is out of a movie. I guess that’s why they film so many movies on their campus. It’s all those things and there’s really nothing not to like about USC.”

Regarding Utah: “Just phenomenal and same thing as far as coaching. Nobody has better coaching continuity. Coach Whittingham has been there 20 years. The OC has a lot of years there Andy Ludwig. Coach (Jim) Harding has been there 12 years as the offensive line coach. That has to be a record in college football right now. He’s a great man. Utah is close to home. Easy for lots of family and friends to get to games. If you do well, you can be a hometown hero. They have good tradition and they’re poised to do very well in the Big 12 if they stay healthy.”
