East Lansing, Mich. – Michigan State players and coaches eagerly returned to the practice field yet again on Monday (August 5) for the first fully padded practice of the Spartan 2024 fall camp.

The Michigan State roster and coaching staff both underwent a significant overhaul this off-season, marking the beginning of many Spartans journey to the field this fall.

Michigan State added depth to the defensive tackle room this off-season with several new additions. The Spartans and defensive line coach Legi Suiaunoa added the junior defensive lineman from Nebraska, playing in nine career games with the Cornhuskers. He is originally from the Grand Rapids area, returning to his home-state to finish out his college career.

Sophomore LB Jordan Hall

Sophomore linebacker Jordan Hall will enter his second year in the program, as he was a key contributor on the Spartan defense in 2023 as just a true freshman. The Michigan State linebacker room will be deeper and more experienced in 2024, as Hall will look to continue making an impact. The linebacker has repped as a rush end in certain packages during fall camp.

Another new face on the defensive line, Anthony Jones joins the Spartans after spending the 2023 season with Indiana and current Spartan rush ends coach Chad Wilt. Jones is repping as a rush end with experienced veteran Khris Bogle and others. He has three years of eligibility remaining, playing in 14 career collegiate games.

Veteran linebacker Wayne Matthews joined the Spartans this winter with 26 career games played and 148 tackles in two seasons with Old Dominion. Matthews (6-2, 232) was named a pre-season third team All-Big Ten selection by Phil Steele.

Sophomore OL Kristian Phillips

Many eyes have been on offensive guard Kristian Phillips this off-season, as he continues to compete for a starting role at left guard. Phillips (6-4, 319) played in 11 games in 2023 for the Spartans. He will look to provide a valuable role for Jim Michalczik and the new Spartan staff in year one.

Redshirt freshmen OL Stanton Ramil and Cole Dellinger

Like Phillips, young offensive lineman Stanton Ramil (#65) and Cole Dellinger (#56) both will look to crack the playing group during their second seasons in East Lansing. Both Ramil and Dellinger have suffered injuries in the past resulting in each taking a redshirt season in 2023. Ramil is in competition for a second string tackle spot, as Dellinger has repped across the interior offensive line.
