THE LATEST: Two Key USC Offensive Tackle Targets Announcing Commitments in August

THE LATEST: Two Key USC Offensive Tackle Targets Announcing Commitments in August

Although we don’t have new details for all the uncommitted players who took USC official visits from May 31 to June 23, we have THE LATEST Intel on the USC prospects planning to announce between now and the end of the month.

The Trojans just gained a huge commitment on Monday (8/5) from four-star Mobile (AL) offensive tackle Carde Smith, but Josh Henson and the Trojans hope to gain a couple more this month.

Four-star offensive tackle Aaron Dunn from Spanish Fork (UT) is set to reveal his school choice August 8 and four-star offensive tackle Nick Brooks from Loganville (GA) plans to announce either August 23 or 30.

Two team race for Brooks?

Brooks was committed to Iowa at one time, but he recently moved back to Georgia from the Hawkeye State and he is closing in on a decision.

“I am down to GeorgiaTexas and USC,” Brooks told On3. “I had great official visits to all three schools and all three schools have done a great job recruiting me. The coaches at each school are strong, I have relationships with them and I am close to committing to one of them.

“At different times, I have the different schools on top of my list. It has been fluid because of the relationships and how I like all three a lot, but I want to make a decision soon. I thought I would be committed already, but I know it is coming this month.”

We believe this is a USC vs Texas battle for Brooks.

Not a Dunn deal, but trending for USC

As of this evening, USC still feels good about their chances with Dunn. They talk to him every day and that’s typically a very good sign.

As many have read from Justin Hopkins at ScoopDuck, Oregon feels USC may be ahead as we approach the August 8 announcement date.

I’m not quite ready to make a prediction for USC, but it’s close. We want to check in with someone in Utah first, but this would another HUGE get for the Trojans.

Defensive line recruiting note

Should five-star 2026 New Orleans (LA) defensive linemen Jahkeem Stewart reclassify to 2025, and we believe that’s still likely, he’s the elite D-lineman USC has the best shot at getting. In fact, I’d peg USC as one of two teams to beat.

There’s been a lot of talk about Ohio State and recently LSU, but we’re told watch out for Oregon if it becomes an NIL bidding war. USC won’t just lay down and give up from an NIL perspective, though.

Stewart will be in attendance at the USC vs LSU game in Las Vegas September 1.
