2026 LB/RB target Kaedyn Cobbs is eyeing a return visit to Nebraska this fall
Denton (Texas) Guyer linebacker/running back target Kaedyn Cobbs was in Lincoln last weekend for the elite junior day at Nebraska. The 6-foot-1, 190-pound Cobbs is ranked as a safety by On3, but Nebraska sees him fitting in the second level of their defense. The Huskers are even interested in giving Cobbs a chance on offense as a running back.
“The junior day visit was my first trip to Nebraska,” Cobbs said. I was surprised by the stadium. It’s one of the biggest I have ever seen, and it kind of took my breath away.
“I wanted to see the facilities at Nebraska, and everything looked great. Meeting with the coaches was also important, and I wanted to see what they saw in me. The coaches were really nice. I had a great visit.”
During the visit, Cobbs wanted to look closer at Nebraska’s facilities. Nebraska’s weight room was the most memorable part of the facilities for Cobbs.
“The part of Nebraska’s facilities that stood out to me the most was its weight room. It was all of the gadgets, the size, the technology to track bar speed, and the turf field that was right next to it.”
Nebraska sees Kaedyn Cobbs as a play-making linebacker and possibly as a running back too
Cobbs spent most of his time with his position coach and recruiting coach. The Huskers see Cobbs playing linebacker in their 3-3-5 and want to also take a look at him as a running back.
“I spent the most time with coach Rob Dvoracek and coach Garrett McGuire,” Cobbs said. McGuire is the coach recruiting me, and Dvoracek sees me playing linebacker for him. They also see me playing running back.”
Cobbs says that the visit was packed with time spent with the other recruits. He was surprised by the number of highly rated recruits who visited with him last weekend in Nebraska.
“There wasn’t a lot of time to talk football. We broke out into groups, all of the recruits that I was with were on defense, and we all talked about how recruiting was going.
“All of the recruits that I was with were big recruits. I don’t really remember the names of any of the recruits except for Pierce Mooberry who is committed in the 2025 class.”
Game-day visits have become critical for juniors in determining where to take official summer visits. Cobbs says he will take multiple game-day visits but is sure of only one school right now.
“I don’t know exactly where and when, but I know that I will visit Nebraska for sure,” Cobbs said.
Cobbs finished his junior year with 60 total tackles, five tackles for loss, two forced fumbles, and one interception.
