Gators’ class continues to impress, boasts third-best blue chip rate

The Florida Gators are off to a flaming start on the trail to begin the 2024 class, ranked No. 4 in the nation according to the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. With a class of eight commits, the Gators are third-best in the nation when it comes to blue-chip rate, which stands at 88%.

The Gators are only behind Alabama and South Carolina, but come ahead of Ohio State, Auburn and Clemson and even Georgia.

Florida’s class makeup

Billy Napier’s Gators are on a tear on the recruiting trail, as seven of their eight commitments are from blue-chip prospects. Headlined by five-star quarterback commit DJ Lagway, the Florida class immediately started off strong as the Gators locked up Lagway in December 2022.

Once a strong, nationally-recognized quarterback enters the fold, the eyes of other high-profile recruits are drawn to your school, which was the case for Florida.

Another Texas four-star prospect, safety Xavier Filsaime, entered Florida’s class during the week of the Orange and Blue game. Filsaime is a native of Orlando, Florida, and knew coming back to represent his home state was the correct decision.

Four-star linebackers Myles Graham and Adarius Hayes are two other notable names on Florida’s commit list, as they both come in as top-200 players at a position of need for the Gators.

Prized running back commit Chauncey Bowens is another gem of the Florida class, as Michigan State, Georgia and Miami continue to push for the four-star prospect out of the Benjamin School in South Florida. To pair with Bowens, the Gators also grabbed four-star running back Kahnen Daniels out of Mississippi, an impressive out-of-state pull.

The Gators’ latest grab was four-star Izaiah Williams out of Tampa, Florida. The in-state speedster committed to Florida over LSU, Tennessee and Florida State.

The odd man out of Florida’s class is three-star Georgia safety Josiah Davis, who is ranked No. 481 overall. Davis is a late riser, one the Florida staff loves, resulting in an early commitment for the three-star prospect. Despite his current rating, the Gators are huge fans of Davis’ game and what he brings to the table.
