Newly-offered OL already eyeing Florida OV
On Sunday evening, the Florida Gators expanded their 2025 big board along the offensive line, as Nelson McGuire earned another SEC offer.
McGuire, a former Minnesota commit from Midlothian (Texas) High, is a 3-star prospect and the No. 43-ranked interior offensive lineman with On3. He reopened his recruitment on June 23.
“Me and (player personnel) coach (David) Churba, he followed me on Twitter a while ago and before I was even supposed to commit. We were talking for a little bit,” McGuire told Gators Online.
“When I canceled my commitment, we started talking a little bit more and then I talked to the offensive line coach, coach (Rob) Sale. I ended up getting the offer down the line after that. (They said) they’re a real developmental team and they have some good coaching over there.”
From a development standpoint, Rob Sale’s recent stint with the New York Giants appeals to McGuire too.
“He’s a great coach,” McGuire of Sale. “He has a great background and all the coaches over there have great backgrounds. Being that he was an NFL coach before this, I know he can develop me more than a lot of coaches can.”
Nelson McGuire is already thinking about the Swamp
During the month of June, the 6-foot-4.5, 320-pound McGuire officially visited four programs: Arkansas, Texas Tech, Minnesota and Kansas State. He plans to visit Arkansas again for an unofficial visit.
As for the Florida Gators, they are likely to receive an official visit during the fall.
“We don’t have anything scheduled right now. I plan on seeing the school during my season or something like that. It would most likely be an official,” McGuire said of Florida.
“I know they are a good program and have a history of winning. They are all about development over there at Florida. They are a great team. I just want to see where everything goes with them. I got to talk with the coaches a little bit more.”
Texas Tech, according to On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine, is trending with odds of 93.7 percent.
