Luke Combs forces fantasy football league losers to sing on stage at Cincinnati stadium show
Finishing in last place of your fantasy football league can have some brutal consequences, as evident by Luke Combs’ Saturday concert at Paycor Stadium in Cincinnati.
Forget the 24-hour Waffle House challenge or the stand-up comedy routine, Combs’ league decided that the last-place finisher would have to perform on stage at one of his shows. In this case, there were two losers — each best friends of Combs since high school.
“I’ve been in a fantasy football league with some of my best friends from high school for 12 years now,” Combs told the Cincinnati crowd. “And last year, we decided that whoever lost was gonna have to come on stage and sing with me tonight. Now lucky for me, there was a scoring issue in the last game and my two best friends in the whole world both lost and they both have to come out and sing in front of you guys tonight.
“These guys have been nervous about this for a long time. We worked a little something up with the band. Now, they didn’t get to pick what song they were gonna sing and if you notice… I want everyone to get a nice look at their blue suede shoes because these boys are about to be walking in Memphis.”
Combs’ friends performed a rather unique rendition of Marc Cohn’s “Walking in Memphis,” later covered by Cher and Lonestar. It received a Song of the Year nomination at the 1992 Grammy Awards, though nobody will confuse this performance with that of Cohn’s.

But it was cool moment at one of Combs’ two stadium shows in Cincinnati this weekend as part of his “Growin’ Up and Gettin’ Old Tour.” Combs attended Bengals practice Thursday and was gifted a pack of hats by center Ted Karras. Karras said it would mean a lot to him and the city if Combs would wear a Cincy Hat on stage, which is exactly what he did. The Cincy Hat, Karras’ project, raises money for adults with disabilities.
“100% of proceeds from The Cincy Hat sales go directly to The Village of Merici as they provide services, coaching, and independent housing to adults with disabilities,” the website reads.
