4-star IOL on Florida: ‘It’s literally the home school’

BRADENTON, FL. — While the Florida Gators are definitely casting a wide net for the 2026 class, there are certain prospects who have emerged as a top priority.

For the offensive line, one of those rising juniors is IMG Academy 4-star G’Nivre Carr.

The Ocala native was offered by Florida last June and has visited a handful of times over the past few years. Now as a blue-chip prospect, he is high on the wish list for offensive line coaches Rob Sale and Jonathan Decoster.

“I got a strong relationship with both of them,” Carr told Gators Online at IMG Media Day. “Coach Jon, that’s my guy right there. I call him all the time and we have always have a good laugh. Coach Sale, I’ve been working with him since I was a freshman. We have been tight since.”

Florida is the school closest to home

Another box the Gators check in this recruitment is proximity.

Carr has no problem leaving Florida for college; that’s evident when scanning his top 12, but UF is likely the school he is most familiar with. That’s largely due to campus being less than an hour from home.

“It’s literally the home school,” said Carr. “I walk out my back door and can be at Florida. Obviously, it’s a good sight. They have a tough schedule this season, but I think they are going to do good.

“I’ve been to a couple of their spring practices, so I got high hopes for the program. I think they are going to be just fine. Coach Billy Napier, he knows what he’s doing and I believe in him.”

Is Florida pushing the hardest for the On300 prospect?

“They have been recruiting me a fair amount, but I’m just trying to stick it out to see where it goes,” said Carr. “They’ve all been consistent, for real. They are doing their jobs.”

G’Nivre Carr is mapping out his fall visit schedule

When the Gators host Miami for the Aug. 31 season opener, a boatload of familiar recruits will likely be in attendance. It could be the program’s biggest recruiting weekend of the season.

For Carr, it’s certainly a game on his radar, but it can be difficult traveling in the fall due to IMG’s road schedule.

“I’ve been talking to coach Sale and trying to figure it out,” said Carr. “That week, we go up to Bergen Catholic (New Jersey) to play them. I think it’s on a Thursday. I’m trying to figure it out right now. Hopefully, I can get in the Swamp.”

If all goes as planned, Carr will be trimming his list to five next spring. The Gators are trending in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine with odds of nearly 30 percent.
