5-Star WR Cam Coleman: ‘Florida is definitely getting an official visit’

Cam Coleman quietly took a visit down to Florida last week. The five-star wide receiver out of Phenix City (Ala.) Central visited the Swamp for the first time last summer. He was tagging along with a teammate, Jayden Coleman, and the Gators weren’t even showing interest.

How things have changed since last June.

Coleman has emerged as one of the top recruits this cycle, Florida and many of the top programs in the country are in pursuit and Billy Napier‘s program has become a contender for the No. 25 prospect in the On3 Industry Ranking.

“After this visit to Florida, they are a rising contender on my list,” Coleman told On3. “This was my second time at Florida, but this visit was completely different from the first. I was there tagging along with my friend the first time.

“On this visit, I saw the campus, I watched some film, I got to go see an alligator with coach Billy Gonzales, I spent time with coach Napier and this visit really changed how I feel about Florida.

“I know Florida is definitely getting an official visit.”

The official visit has not been locked in yet. Coleman said it “should happen” in June. He has official visits to Clemson (June 2-4) and LSU (June 23-25) scheduled now and Florida has a good chance of getting Coleman back to Gainesville one of the two weekends in between.

“Florida made a big move up my list. Me and coach Gonzales have really built a strong connection over the last couple of months and spending time with him and the other coaches on the visit was great.

“I really like my connection with coach Gonzales and what they have going on at Florida. They have new facilities, they have been coming after me hard for a while now and I see Florida as an upcoming program.

“Seeing everything and meeting with the coaches gave me a different feeling about Florida. It is something I could see myself being a part of.”

Coleman’s recruitment will go into the season

Coleman added that he plans to take three official visits in the summer. Once the Florida visit is scheduled, that is likely it before his senior season begins.

Auburn will definitely receive an official in the fall. Florida State is another school on his list to visit officially. Coleman said he is talking with Georgia about an official visit during the season as well.

He is in no rush to make his decision.

“I am taking my time,” Coleman said. “A lot of this happened pretty quickly for me, so I am not rushing anything. I will take some official visits in the summer, then the others during the season and make my decision.”
