Nebraska was all over Texas during the spring evaluation period. Multiple assistant coaches fanned out all around the state, and one of the high schools that Nebraska spent a lot of time at and offered several players at was Houston (Texas) Dekaney, including Edge Christian Nwosu.
Nebraska offered Nwosu late last week. The offer was a big one for Nwosu that validated the work that he has put in and the path that he is on to play at the next level.
“Definitely an exciting and humbling experience,” Nwosu said. “It goes to show what hard work gives you.”
Christian Nwosu connects with Nebraska assistant coach
Coach Terrance Knighton reached out to Nwosu and offered. There is a quality that Nwosu likes in coach Knighton which reminds him of the coaching staff at his high school.
“I spoke with coach Knighton. He’s a very cool and knowledgeable guy. Casually he said he played in the league for eight years. That alone shows his humility.
“He is someone I can relate to, and to me, that’s not necessary in building relationships with coaches, but it sure makes it a whole lot easier. He reminds me of the coaches I have here at Dekaney.”
Nebraska is a school that Christian Nwosu plans to visit
An official visit to Nebraska isn’t set yet, but Nwosu says that he is planning on visiting Nebraska. The conversation has already started with the Nebraska staff about setting the official visit up.
“Oh yes, definitely,” Nwosu said. “It’s not official yet, but I plan to visit Nebraska. We briefly talked about setting one up this summer. In fact, I’m considering taking official visits to a couple of colleges soon.”
Nwosu is considering setting up official visits to several schools. He says that he needs to talk with the coaches at Dekaney to devise a plan.
“I haven’t decided yet, honestly. I plan to sit down with my recruiting coaches next week to narrow down which colleges. But as of now, I can tell you Nebraska is for sure one of them.”
Nebraska offers a number of players from Dekaney this spring
Nwosu is the latest from Dekaney High School to pick up an offer from Nebraska. The Huskers have also offered Tanook Hines, Nicholas Townsend, Jamal Frilot, Calvin Carter, and Trey Finney. The Nebraska staff has a strong connection to the staff at Dekaney.
“The Huskers came to the right place,” Nwosu said. “Our coaching staff have great relationships with theirs. They know the type of players that we breed.
“So we consider Nebraska as another opportunity to play ball, in a competitive conference at that. We also know that Nebraska has a terrific fan base and supports its football team. That’s something we consider in colleges. So, props to them!”
