State commitment Mario Nash enjoys being ‘back home’ at Bulldog Bash

2025 Mississippi State commit and On3 composite four-star offensive lineman Mario Nash felt relaxed and at home last Thursday. The Kemper County High School standout was among several future Bulldogs at last week’s Bulldog Bash, which was held at the home of head coach Jeff Lebby.

Nash committed to the Bulldogs last month and did so over offers from Alabama, LSU, Ohio State, Clemson and Florida State among several others. He is rated as the nation’s No. 22 offensive tackle and the state’s No. 8 prospect by On3 composite rankings.

“It was good and I had a good time with everybody,” Nash recalled. “I got to be around some of my teammates and got to be around the guys. It was like when you have to be out of town for awhile and then finally get back home.”

Along with the Bulldog Bash activities for the recruits, Nash also enjoyed the time he spent with Lebby and offensive line coach Cody Kennedy.

“My favorite part was when we were in the pool,” added the 6-foot-4 and 270-pound Nash. “We all had a good time in the pool and it was good to be with the coaches, too. Coach Lebby was just making good conversation with us and it was the same thing with Coach Kennedy.”

Bulldog Bash also featured several other 2025 and 2026 offensive linemen along with other top 2025 targets on State’s radar. Nash noted of some of the other recruits he was able to spend time with at Lebby’s house.

“My teammate (and 2026 four-star running back) Damarius Yates was with us,” Nash remarked. “Then I was hanging around (2026 prospect) Preston Ashley and Kamario Taylor a good bit. I saw Carde Smith there and he seemed like he was having a good time. I was around Tyler (Lockhart) and Caleb Cunningham. They’re cool guys and they seemed like they were having a good time, too.”

This week, Nash and his Kemper County High School teammates will return to the practice fields to begin preparations for the upcoming season. Nash helped lead his team to a 9-3 record last fall and he has high hopes again for his final prep campaign.

“I think we can get a ring this year,” noted Nash. “Our running game is probably going to be the strong point this year. We got a mobile quarterback and of course, we’ve got Yates at running back. I will be all over the offensive line and I’ll be on the defensive line. But I’ve done that before.”

This summer Nash kept a hectic schedule on the recruiting trail, which included official visits to LSU, Mississippi State and Clemson. With so many offers and opportunities at the next level, Nash also had plenty of pressure on him. But these days, that is no longer the case. And at Bulldog Bash, Nash was able to enjoy himself without all of the normal recruiting worries.

“That was the cool part being back home, just chilling while I was there,” mentioned Nash. “There was no recruiting pressure. I wasn’t looking for anything and I’ve already found what I was looking for. So it was very relaxing and I felt comfortable. And since I committed, I still have some schools talking to me but most of them have been quiet. But like I said, I’ve already found home for me.”
