In addition to hosting dozens of official visitors next month, the Gators will be working out a boatload of prospects on the camp circuit as well.
Justin Thurman, a four-star running back from Tampa (Fla.) Jesuit, is one of those prospects who will be lacing up the cleats. Florida offered him a scholarship when he visited in April, but the 2025 prospect is eager to solidify his standing and make sure Florida knows it made the right decision.
If all goes as planned, the 6-foot, 180-pound Thurman will be returning to Gainesville on June 5.
“It’s a camp. My last time there was for sprng practice, which evolved into a visit. I am really coming to work with (running backs) coach (Jabbar) Juluke and learn more about his coaching style on the fifth,” Thurman told Gators Online.
“Since the offer from Florida, we’ve had a couple of opportunities to connect, including when coach Juluke visited me at practice during spring ball. I’m attending the camp and looking forward to learning more about his coaching style and the running back system.”
The in-state Gators will be a threat until the end
Although Thurman made a limited impact as a sophomore, college coaches are well aware of his upside. He reports times of 4.31 and 10.84 in the 40-yard dash and 100M, respectively, and claims a vertical of 36 inches as well. He also excels in the classroom, boasting a 3.98 GPA.
In addition to the Gators, Thurman possesses offers from Tennessee, Notre Dame, Auburn, Louisville, Kansas State, Kansas, Rutgers and UCF among others. And like UF, Auburn, Tennessee, Alabama, Notre Dame and UCF will have Thurman on campus next month as well.
“Florida is a top-tier SEC school that has a strong program history,” said Thurman. “It’s early in the process, but they have piqued my interest. I look forward to learning more about how I would fit into their program.”
According to On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine, Kansas State is trending with odds of 41.3 percent. Both the Wildcats and Jayhawks have already received at least two visits from Thurman, with Kansas State having played host on three occasions.
The On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, labels Thurman as the No. 25 running back and No. 264 prospect regardless of position. He ranks as a top-40 sophomore in the Sunshine State as well.
