2025 4-Star CG Jasper Johnson Excels at Nike EYBL in Memphis

2025 4-Star CG Jasper Johnson Excels at Nike EYBL in Memphis

Fresh off a Kentucky offer earlier this month, Jasper Johnson has excelled at the Nike EYBL session in Memphis this weekend.

The 6-foot-2, 165-pound combo guard from Woodford County (Lexington, KY) and the Team Thad AAU Program had several impressive performances over the weekend, including recording 21 points, four assists, and three steals in only 18 minutes in a win over Vegas elite on Saturday.

“We had some players come in, step up, and play big minutes for us,” Johnson told KSR+. “I feel like we played great on the defensive side that helped us get a lot of buckets in transition.”

Johnson, the No. 26 overall prospect in 2025, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, describes himself as a “very smart player.”

“My IQ helps me a lot, helps me beat my defender by knowing the next play and keeping my play above the defender,” he said. “It helps me get to my spots better and dish off to my players.”

Heading into his junior year, Johnson is trying to work on his pace of play.

“I feel like I’m one of the best guards in the country, if not the best,” he said. “I’m trying to prove it every day.”

The Latest with Kentucky

It’s been a hectic month for Jasper Johnson, who added an offer from Kentucky on May 6 and told KSR+ that he was planning a few visits for the summer.

“It’s a good program,” Johnson said. “Me and Coach [Orlando] Antigua have been in touch for a long time now. I’m just building a relationship with the coaching staff overall.”

Although Johnson doesn’t have plans to visit Kentucky soon, he knows that it’s always a short trip away.

“I haven’t planned on it anytime soon, but I know whenever I can,” he said. “I live 15 minutes from campus, so I could just go whenever.”

As for Kentucky, Johnson believes that he could fit in very well.

“They bring in a whole lot of guards, NBA guards, that are really good in the NBA right now,” he said. “I feel like I could fit into the system they play.”

His Wider Recruitment

Jasper Johnson has a busy recruitment with a bevy of schools including Memphis, Louisville, West Virginia, Alabama, Arkansas, Cincinnati, Xavier, and “a couple other schools.”

With a couple years until college, Johnson isn’t rushing the recruiting process.

“I’m really just taking my time, sitting down with my family, seeing my options, making sure I’m close with the coaching staff and seeing how they really feel about time,” he said. “When that decision comes, I’ll be able to commit whenever.”

And what will be the factors in that decision?

“Really just my trust,” Johnson said. “My trust in the coaches and their trust in me. How my family feels about the program. I want to bring winning to whatever program I go to, so that’s what you’re going to get.”
