2026 DL Keshawn Stancil Looking to Set Official Visit to Kentucky: ‘They Have a Powerhouse Defense’

Keshawn Stancil didn’t have much of a reaction to his offer from Kentucky. He was pretty numb to it all.

The 6-foot-3, 260-pound defensive lineman from Clayton (Clayton, NC) visited Kentucky on Monday, earning an offer from the program. He told KSR+ that his reaction was “normal.”

“I’m really numb to the feeling of getting offers, but it’s still a blessing,” Stancil said. “You have to take in every moment.”

Stancil said he was the only recruit visiting campus on Tuesday, so the focus was all on him. It was something that stood out.

“They were showing a lot of love,” he said. “I don’t really know much [about Kentucky], but I know they have a powerhouse defense in the SEC. They have good D-Linemen coming in and going to the draft. They just got a D-Lineman from North Carolina, Keeshawn Silver, coming over, and they have some good players.”

Stancil got to see how he might be utilized in that Kentucky defense. It was something that was a definite selling point for UK.

“It matches my playing style more than a lot of the other schools that have offered,” he said.

With one visit out of the way, Stancil wants to return again. He said he’s working to set up a game day visit for the fall, as well as an official visit.

“I really want to see how the crowd is on a game visit,” he said. “They said the crowds get rowdy, so I want to see how it is and see what it’s like.”

His Wider Recruitment

Keshawn Stancil is seeing his recruitment blow up this summer. Just in the last couple of months, he’s taken visits to Penn State, Florida State, Florida, USC, and Maryland, among others. Stancil does not have a timeline for a commitment. However, he’s looking to set up some visits for the fall.

“I’m definitely visiting NC State, Penn State, Kentucky, and Florida State for game-day visits,” he said. “I just need to figure out my game schedule, so I can get to some of these games.”

When taking these visits, Stancil is taking in a lot of different factors. Those include a good connection with the coaching staff among other things.

“I want to see how I can fit in, see how much the playcalling fits my play style, and make sure we’re on the same page,” he said.

2026 defensive lineman Keshawn Stancil of Clayton (NC) finished the 2023 season with 39 tackles, five sacks, one interception, and one caused fumble in 12 games, according to MaxPreps. He considers his run-stopping to be his greatest strength.

“I’ve got some pass-rushing moves in my bag too,” he said. “I’m a big run-stopper, who can stuff the hole, and not too much gets outside of me. I’m a really versatile guy.”

Heading into his junior year, Stancil is working on improving his hands. He also wants to improve his pass-rushing ability.

“I want to learn some more pass rush moves and use my hands a little bit more,” he said.
