Rusty’s Ramblings: Intel on two 4-star Georgia targets with decisions looming

Georgia wrapped summer recruiting up this weekend and it is one of those that kind of illustrates the state of recruiting. After so many visits and decisions in a two-month period, this was a quiet one. Georgia is currently sitting with the number four ranked class on the On3 Industry Team Rankings.

*** Two big upcoming decisions are coming in early August. Four-star offensive lineman Juan Gaston (Westlake; Atlanta, Ga.) will announce this upcoming Saturday. He has it down to Georgia, Oregon and Tennessee. From everything I have heard the last few weeks, it sounds like Georgia and Tennessee are the two teams to consider the most down the stretch. This one is going to be an interesting one. He does no media and his family has done very little media to this point. I would be willing to bet that they will not notify any team ahead of team with this decision. I talked to a few folks at Westlake on Friday and they both said ‘no one here knows that is for sure.’ I know Georgia has made him a high priority and Stacy Searels has not let up an ounce here.

*** Four-Star Jontae Gilbert (Douglass; Atlanta, Ga.) was back in Athens and he is set to make his final decision on August 10th. I think Georgia has made some good movement here and they were clear with him on how they would use him in Athens. I like where Georgia is with Gilbert but it’s not a slam dunk he would end up in Athens. We will keep you updated on this one over the next week and a half.

*** Four-star wideout and Georgia commit Talyn Taylor, four-star was back in town with his family this weekend. They arrived on Friday. Ohio State has not let up at all here. They want him and they have let his family know that. I think James Coley has done a huge job here. Everything I continue to hear is that he is strong in his commitment to Georgia. His family loves it in Athens and they love the vibe they get with this staff and team. He is super talented and you do not get those easily. Coley continues to do a good job here however.
