Goodyear (Ariz.) Desert Edge safety Jonathan Kamara announced his commitment to Kansas on Sunday. He chose the Jayhawks over offers from Arizona State, Texas and Washington among others.
Kamara is not ranked in the 2024 On3 Industry Ranking or the 2024 On300. He is 6-foot-4 and weighs 205 pounds.
“First and foremost, I thank God for blessing me and putting me in the position I’m in today,” Kamara wrote in a message on Instagram. “I 100% would not be here without him! Next, I would like to thank my family and friends who have supported me throughout this process. I’m also thankful for my brothers at Timber Creek and especially at Desert Edge for helping me get where I’m today, as well for all the coaches at DE who have helped me throughout this process! I give all the Glory To God and with that being said, I’m truly blessed to announce my commitment to The University of Kansas! Rock Chalk.”
Kamara is now the fifth player in Kansas’ 2024 recruiting class. The others are Southfield (Mich.) three-star quarterback Isaiah Marshall, Beggs (Okla.) three-star running back Red Martel, Sioux Center (Iowa) three-star tight end Carson Bruhn and Goodyear (Ariz.) Desert Edge three-star cornerback Aundre Gibson.
