Elite 2026 OL Darius Gray high on Michigan after recent offer

Michigan recently dipped into Virginia and offered one of the best 2026 prospects in the country in elite offensive lineman Darius Gray.

The Richmond (Va.) St. Christopher’s School product said he was extremely excited when the Wolverines jumped in the mix.

“It felt great to get the offer,” Gray said. “They were one of the first top schools to offer me, so I felt really blessed to get it. You always see Michigan up there with the big names. For them to take a chance on me early is a blessing.”

Gray has been doing his research on Michigan since notching the offer in March and likes what the program has to offer. While it’s still early, Gray has high interest in the Wolverines.

“I feel like I know a lot from a football standpoint,” Gray said. “I’ve been keeping up with them. I like Michigan a lot. I know it sounds weird, but I like the cold weather, so that’s a plus, too. Michigan is just a great program.”

Gray added that he’s also been impressed with Michigan’s recent offensive line success.

U-M obviously became the first school to capture back-to-back Joe Moore Awards for the best offensive line group in the country under the guidance of position coach Sherrone Moore.

“It definitely impresses me,” Gray said. “My goal is to be in the league. When schools produce offensive linemen, that’s what you want to be around, so it definitely catches my attention what they’ve done at Michigan.”

The next step for Gray is making his way to Ann Arbor for his first ever unofficial visit, which he hopes takes place soon.

“I definitely want to make a visit,” Gray said. “It would be my first time there, so I would want to see the campus and meet some of the guys there. I also want to learn more about the family atmosphere that they have.”

Along with Michigan, Gray holds early offers from Alabama, Georgia, Miami, North Carolina, Penn State, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Wisconsin and a number of other major programs.

At 6-foot-4, 280 pounds, Gray, who was a MaxPreps first team Freshman All-American selection last season, is not yet ranked. However, he projects as a Top 100 recruit nationally.

Michigan does not hold any verbal commitments in the 2026 recruiting class.
