Rising 2025 RB Chad Gasper talks recent Michigan offer, Mike Hart
Michigan assistant Mike Hart made a swing through the talent-rich state of Texas in the winter and extended offers to a handful of talented running backs, including Chad Gasper.
The rising 2025 prospect out of Katy (Texas) Jordan was fired up when Hart stopped by his school and extended the scholarship.
“Getting the Michigan offer meant a lot,” Gasper said. “I’ve been watching Michigan on TV all my life. My parents would put on the Michigan games. My dad used to tell me I might have a chance to go to that school one day. It’s exciting to have the offer.”
Gasper said he had a brief but productive first conversation with Hart and is looking forward to getting to know him as the process runs its course.
“Coach Hart talked to me about how it’s cold up there and hot down here in Texas,” Gasper said with a laugh. “It impresses me a lot that he played in the league. It means a lot to get attention from him.”
Michigan has become a destination school for running back recruits.
After all, the Wolverines boast Heisman contender Blake Corum and dynamic underclassman Donovan Edwards as well as the best offensive line in college football as evidenced by back-to-back Joe Moore Awards.
U-M’s ground attack is very appealing for top-level ball carriers like Gasper.
“It impresses me a lot,” Gasper said. “It means a lot to get attention from that type of school with quality running backs. It’s very important to go to a school that runs the ball a lot and would spotlight my talents.”
The next step for Gasper is making it out to Ann Arbor for his first ever unofficial visit.
“My parents and I definitely want to visit Michigan and see how it is up there,” Gasper said. “I want to see good culture around the team. I want to see a good community around the school. I also want to learn more about how they utilize their running backs.”
Along with Michigan, Gasper holds offers from Arizona State, Houston, Nebraska, Oregon and Wisconsin. He hopes to visit all schools this summer.
Gasper rushed for 675 yards and 10 touchdowns and added 16 receptions for 194 yards and another score as a sophomore last season.
At 5-foot-11, 195 pounds. Gasper is not yet ranked.
