Miami continuing to show love for Homestead top-100 receiver Cortez Mills

Homestead (Fla.) 2025 receiver Cortez Mills has quickly turned into a favorite to land at Miami in the 2025 class after visiting Coral Gables three times already.

Mills, the No. 90 overall prospect in the On3 Industry Ranking and No. 15 receiver in the class, visited Miami every other month this spring, and he’s starting to feel like a real priority to the Hurricanes. Miami leads for the 6-foot-1, 170-pound receiver in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine ahead of Florida State, Texas A&M and Penn State.

“The energy is great,” Mills said. “They treat me like family. They show major love. …Right now, I’d say (my interest) is high. I’ve got a lot of interest (in Miami).”

Mills said he’s also hearing from Maryland, Nebraska, Louisville and Michigan and is paying close attention to the interest different programs show. A school’s recruiting effort, player development and home feeling will all play into Mills’ commitment decision.

He said he wants to visit Michigan, Nebraska and Maryland this summer. Michigan, Florida State, Georgia and West Virginia have also shown interest this spring and made evaluation visits to Homestead.

Mills said the Hurricanes showed serious love on his last visit to Coral Gables May 13.

“They showed me the most love (Miami has shown yet),” Mills said. “They really showed me how much they want me and how much they can do for me to help me develop and get ready for the next level.”

The way Miami has treated Mills so far is what’s helped the Hurricanes stand out.

“It’s how they treat me,” Mills said. “They treat me like this is my hometown, and they treat me like a player already.”

Mills has an On3 NIL Valuation of $65k and has offers to more than a dozen programs already.

CaneSport’s Take

Mills’ multiple visits to Coral Gables have played substantial roles in the Hurricanes climbing to the top of the RPM, although he’s been hesitant to name a clear frontrunner this early in his recruitment (like most 2025 prospects).

Mills has continued to pick up offers and gain interest throughout the spring, and it’s safe to expect plenty more offers to roll in this summer. He’s already blossomed into one of the top prospects in South Florida in the 2025 recruiting class and should continue to receive serious attention from programs as his recruitment goes on.

Don’t be surprised to see him back in Coral Gables this summer.
