Reidsville’s (N.C.) Kendre Harrison is one of the nation’s most coveted athletes in the 2026 class — whether it be in football or basketball.

On the field, Harrison is a five-star tight end prospect ranking No. 6 overall the 2026 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking — a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

On the court, he is the No. 45 player in the country and No. 6 power forward.

Harrison told On3’s Joe Tipton that he is hoping to play both sports at the next level. In terms of teams recruiting him in both sports, schools like North Carolina, Alabama, Miami, Florida State, Michigan and Penn State stand out.

A North Carolina native, Harrison grew up a Duke fan. With the Blue Devils not involved in his recruitment, he has taken the time to get familiar with the other side of the rivalry.

“I was a Duke fan growing up. I don’t get recruited by Duke, though, so I had to see all the UNC stuff,” Harrison said. “Just seeing all the ins and outs — football side and basketball side — I see why people like Carolina. And I could see why I might stay there. But it’s just a great place.”

Alabama has been on the top of the football world for years, and Kalen DeBoer’s staff is looking to keep that going following the Nick Saban era. On the flip side, Nate Oats has built a dominant SEC program on the court in Tuscaloosa.

“Well since Nick Saban, that was a key part there. But the coaching staff that came in and changed everything, they’re doing a great job there,” Harrison said. “Basketball is doing a great job. Football, I’m just ready to see what’s going to happen in the future with them.”

Florida State has made the NCAA Tournament four times since 2017 and is fresh off of an undefeated regular season on the football field.

“Basketball side when I was up there, Cam’Ron Fletcher was up there, some people like that, great players they’re developing a lot. Football side, I rock with everybody. Coaches, players, everybody man.”

Harrison has also enjoyed his visits to Happy Valley.

“Penn State — I like their style of play on the basketball court. I know that they can develop me in basketball and football. It’s just a great place, again, man. I have a lot of fun when I’m up there.”

Going forward, Harrison will also take an unofficial visit to Oregon at the end of the month.

In terms of a commitment, Harrison said he is looking at a senior-year decision.
