At 6-foot-6 and almost 300 pounds, it’s easy to see why schools have taken an early interest in offensive tackle Courtney Heard of East Coweta High School.

“As far as my recruitment, it’s been smooth,” Heard told DawgsHQ recently. “I have ten offers right now with the biggest ones being Georgia and Florida State. They’ve been keeping up with me and creating a relationship.”

When it comes to the in-state Bulldogs, the news came down in early June, with the rising junior getting a chance to showcase his ability in front of a key figure.

“I got to camp and balled out in front of Stacy Searels, and afterward, I did some extra agility drills for about 25 minutes,” Heard said. “That’s when Coach Searels offered me. He told me while I was doing the drills that he liked my footwork, and to me, that’s one of the most important things as a left tackle.”

As a Peach State resident, he’s well familiar with how the operation works in Athens, making the opportunity all the sweeter.

“It felt good getting recognition of my game, especially by a big time school. I know they bring in a lot of talent and take guys to the next level,” Heard said. “What comes to my mind when thinking about Georgia is probably the environment and the success of the school. It’s unique how they treat the players and the way they train.”

The ability to be close to home is also a unique aspect the Dawgs have to offer.

“I’ve lived in Georgia all my life, so I’ve definitely put some thought into that,” he said.

He’ll have a chance to see more of Georgia this fall, but the Bulldogs aren’t the only ones on his visit list.

“I’ll be trying to maybe attend a game or two, but as far as schools, I want to see I’d say probably Auburn and Tennessee,” Heard said.

When he does take those trips, Heard is keeping it simple.

“What I’m looking for is a school that makes me feel welcomed with an offense that can fit my play style,” he said.

Courtney Heard is the twin brother of 2026 offensive tackle Courtlin Heard, who also holds an offer from Georgia.
