No. 21 Kam Brown, WR, Senior
There are new faces galore in the Purdue receivers room. And one of the key newcomers is UCLA transfer Kam Brown.
In addition to Brown, Purdue also added two Georgia wideouts via the portal: De’Nylon Morrissette and CJ Smith. And the unit has imported a JC transfer–Leland Smith–and four freshmen. Don’t forget about Jahmal Edrine, a Florida Atlantic transfer who is ready to shine after sitting out 2023 following an August knee injury.
It’s against that backdrop Brown will look to make the most of his final season. What’s Purdue getting? Brown has decent speed to go with a veteran’s savvy that is displayed in his route-running. He’s a pro’s pro. And as one of the most experienced wideouts on the roster, the sixth-year senior could be poised to start.
He played in nine games in 2023, making 13 catches for 163 yards and a TD in what was his third season at UCLA. The Colleyville (Texas) Heritage High product spent his first two seasons at Texas A&M. The 6-1 Brown’s resume shows 61 receptions for 846 yards and six touchdowns in his career.
Purdue is trying to replace its top three pass-catching wideouts who all entered the portal: Deion Burks, TJ Sheffield and Abdur-Rahmaan Yaseen.
Fun fact: Brown is the son of former NFL defensive back Larry Brown, the MVP of Super Bowl 30 for the Cowboys.
