LSU’s On3 RPM Tracker: Confidence increasing with a 4-star
One of the Top 10 prospects in Louisiana will announce his college decision on Saturday, and LSU has a hat on the table as a finalist.
Destrehan’s Jhase Thomas will announce his decision at 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 13, choosing from a final group of LSU, Ole Miss, Colorado, Houston and Texas Tech.
LSU enters the weekend with 15 commitments and a Top 5 class on the On3 Industry Team Football Recruiting Rankings for the 2025 class.

Changing the confidence rating of the LSU prediction
LSU offered the Destrehan rising senior on June 13, which came quickly given he turned in an impressive showing at LSU’s Elite Camp that same day.
By the evening of June 13, I made the first On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM) pick for Thomas in favor of the Tigers. LSU had brought Thomas to campus plenty over the offseason, he was a priority target for first-year safeties coach Jake Olsen and the Tigers have had a pipeline to Destrehan over the years.
With those factors coupled with my conversations with Thomas, I sensed it wouldn’t be long before he popped for the Tigers. I made my On3 RPM with an initial confidence score set at 70%.
Now, Thomas is 24 hours out from revealing his choice, and I have not gathered any intel that would warrant shifting my prediction away from LSU. Instead, I’m upping my confidence score to 90%. Simply put, the Tigers have done an excellent job through the evaluation process and now after the verbal scholarship offer was handed out, and Thomas has been high on the Tigers throughout.
LSU doesn’t have a safety committed in the 2025 class, meaning the 4-star has the chance to be the first commitment for Olsen and the room this cycle.
Headed into Saturday’s announcement, LSU holds all the On3 RPM picks that have been logged.
Jhase Thomas skyrockets up the On3 Rankings
On Monday, On3 updated the On300 for the 2025 class.
With the changes, On3 is now is highest Thomas among all four major recruiting services, and On3 is the lone recruiting service to make Thomas a 4-star prospect. He’s now ranked by On3 as a Top 25 safety nationally, a Top 10 prospect in Louisiana and one of the newest members of the On300.
Thomas is the son of former Ole Miss Rebel and NFL cornerback, Fred Thomas, and those football bloodlines were passed down to Jhase.
“Jhase Thomas was definitely someone that commanded a lot of attention from the LSU staff,” On3 National Scout Cody Bellaire said on The Bengal Tiger Podcast. “When I tell you that this cat was offered directly after testing, he quite literally ran his 40, went to the warm-up area to wait for drills to start, the personnel staff ran the numbers to Brian Kelly. He calls Jhase over and boom, that’s it. Offered, done. Before he even works out. Obviously, one of the big questions they had with him going into this was some of the top end speed, overall athleticism and size.”
At 6-1, 175 pounds with frame to add substantial mass, Thomas ran 4.40 in the 40-yard dash (twice) and logged a 35-plus inch vertical.
“I’m not sure the bar was necessarily that they were looking for, but he definitely surpassed it at the testing point,” Bellaire said. “The important thing to remember with Jhase is he’s younger for the cycle. This is a guy that won’t turn 18 until July going into his freshman year of college. He technically could be a 2026 prospect, if he wanted to be. I emphasize that because the numbers he’s laying down and the tape he has out there, you need to look at that through the lens of this kid should be going into his junior season, not his senior season. That’s very important context when looking at the testing and the film.
“I really like the player. I thought he looked excellent during the workout and I think his upside is super high. I can’t wait to see what his senior tape looks like.”
