Nightly Recruiting Briefing: Four-star 2024 receiver includes Michigan State in final four
In tonight’s Nightly Recruiting Briefing we will discuss a four-star wide receiver and his top list including Michigan State. We will also discuss other Spartan recruiting buzz.
Bredell Richardson narrows list to four
Bredell Richardson, a four-star wide receiver out of Tampa (FL) Carrollwood Day School, announced his final four schools via social media on May 25. Richardson also included Oregon, Michigan, and LSU. He narrowed his list of four, from nearly 50 offers including Alabama, Georgia, Notre Dame, Texas A&M, and others.
The 6-foot, 190-pound receiver is ranked the No. 285 overall recruit, the No. 45 wide receiver, and the No. 43 recruit in Florida by the 2024 On3 Industry Rankings.
Richardson has not yet visited Michigan State, as the Spartans look for a summer official visit.
“Those fans are crazy,” Richardson told On3. “I love the culture coach Tuck has got going on, and would love to be a part of that culture and play for them!”
Jason’s take:
Michigan State will need to get Richardson on campus for an official visit in order to really secure their spot in this race.
The Spartans sit well with Cincinnati (OH) three-star Tra’Mar Harris, who will announce his decision on June 30. Michigan State will also host four-star Nick Marsh on June 23 who could announce his commitment in early July. Four-star California wide receivers Kwazi Gilmer and Jordan Ross will also both visit Michigan State on June 2. Four-star Tae Johnson of Fort Wayne (IN) will also visit Michigan State on June 2. Speedy wide receiver Javarius Green of Shelby (NC) Crest School will also make his way to East Lansing on June 9 for an official visit.
Reggie Powers narrows list to five
Michigan State also made the top list for class of 2024 safety Reggie Powers of Dayton (OH) Centerville. The 6-foot-1, 195-pound safety also included Ohio State, Northwestern, Cincinnati, and Pittsburgh. The Buckeyes sit well for Powers headed into official visit season. Powers is ranked a three-star, the No. 576 overall recruit, the No. 59 safety, and the No. 19 recruit in Ohio by the 2024 On3 Industry Rankings.
Jason’s take:
The Spartans are looking to make a move with the Ohio safety during his June 9 official visit. Beating the home-state Buckeyes will not be easy for Michigan State and Harlon Barnett.
“With Michigan State specifically, I want to see the campus,” Powers told SpartanMag.com earlier this month in Columbus. “I have never been up there so I just want to see what is going on, be around their coaches, maybe even watch them coach a little bit. I want to see the campus and see if I like it.”
Michigan State will have limited time to pass Ohio State with a decision coming soon after Powers official visits.
“I’d like to decide by late June, maybe early July,” Powers said. “I want to make my decision right after my official visits and before my season
