Lucky Charms: Where things stand on Notre Dame’s 2025 board as of Tuesday night

Lucky Charms: Where things stand on Notre Dame’s 2025 board as of Tuesday night

Here are today’s Lucky Charms, a Monday-Thursday insider notes article on Notre Dame football recruiting.

Following recruiting is not for the faint of heart. It has twists and turns and good days and bad days. And things can turn quickly.

While the NCAA recruiting calendar says this we’re in a “dead period” (which essentially means no face-to-face contact between coaches and recruits), things are moving at a rapid pace this month. As of Tuesday night, here is where things stand with Notre Dame’s six remaining targets in the 2025 class:

Las Vegas Bishop Gorman WR Derek Meadows: He’s announcing his commitment this Saturday, and his recruitment has been seen as an Alabama vs. Notre Dame battle for the past several weeks. But sources tell Blue & Gold and other On3 reporters that LSU has emerged as a huge contender. They’ve always been in the mix, but I don’t know that anyone outside of Baton Rouge thought that the Tigers were this major of a threat until this week. If I had to predict Meadows today, it would be to LSU (yesterday I thought Alabama, which goes to show how quickly things can change), but it’s not all bad news for Notre Dame.

Meadows has not given a silent commitment to a school yet from what I gather, and Notre Dame is planning to talk with the elite talent tonight. The staff will make their last pitch and push to Meadows. With his announcement coming on Saturday, Notre Dame is running out of time, and we’ll see if they can make a move in the next 24 hours. For what it’s worth, I believe that the Irish will still continue to recruit Meadows even if he commits to one of the SEC schools.

La Verne (Calif.) Bonita WR Dylan Robinson: He’s announcing his decision July 18 and is down to Notre Dame, UCLA and Washington. This is one I had felt good about for the Irish in talking to sources Monday (and wrote as much in last night’s Lucky Charms article), but from what I’m hearing today, Washington is the team to beat. Like with Meadows, the Irish are working the phones with Robinson and are making a push to get him to sway him back to ND. And we don’t believe as of now that Robinson has made a silent commitment. Don’t count out the Irish here.

Houston Dekaney WR Tanook Hines: I’m not going to rule it out, but as of now, I don’t see this one coming Notre Dame’s way. Texas is making a push for him, and USC has had confidence about their standing for a while. He’s announcing his commitment July 15. Hines is a wildcard.

San Juan Capistrano (Calif.) JSerra Catholic LB Madden Faraimo: Texas made big strides in his recruitment with how well his official visit there went, and USC is making moves with him in recent weeks. But I’m hearing more positive Notre Dame buzz for the Irish. His communication with the ND staff has been really good lately, and sources in the Gug believe the Irish lead. Faraimo wanted to announce a commitment in early July, but he’s not ready to make that final decision just yet.

Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy LB Nathaniel Owusu-Boateng: Notre Dame is in a good spot with Owusu-Boateng, but he’s not making any decision on where he’ll end up until early in the season. Michigan is a contender, and Owusu-Boateng is looking to take an official visit to Florida in September, most likely.

Fort Wayne (Ind.) Snider S Brandon Logan: Notre Dame looks to be in a pretty good spot to flip Logan from his Vanderbilt baseball commitment. He visited a few weeks ago and that went really well. I expect Logan to go into final decision mode soon.
