Latest intel on Ohio State’s top targets in the updated On300
COLUMBUS – On3 has updated its football prospect rankings for the 2025 cycle. Ohio State has 16 commitments ranked inside the updated On300 and several top targets still on the board.
Lettermen Row breaks the rankings of those uncommitted targets in updated On300 and where Ohio State stands in their recruitment heading into the season.
OT David Sanders Jr.
New Ranking: No. 6 overall
Previous Ranking: No. 6
Lettermen Row’s take: Five-Star Plus+ Charlotte (N.C.) Providence Day School offensive tackle David Sanders Jr. made news over the weekend when he announced that he will make his college commitment on Aug. 17. Sanders also announced that he is down to a top four of Georgia, Nebraska, Ohio State and Tennessee. He took official visits to all four programs this offseason but this recruitment seems to be coming down to the Buckeyes and the Volunteers.
Ohio State got the last official visit with Sanders and his father, David Sanders Sr., told Lettermen Row after the visit that the Buckeyes pulled out all the stops.
“The official visit was awesome,” Sanders Sr. told Lettermen Row. “I mean Ohio State really took their time and really spent a lot of time with our family. Coach [Ryan] Day and Coach [Justin] Frye were by our side the whole entire weekend. I mean, they left no stone unturned. So everything was awesome at Ohio State this weekend.”
S Trey McNutt
New Ranking: No. 47
Previous Ranking: No. 56
Lettermen Row’s take: Despite being an Ohio State legacy, Oregon is currently the team to beat for five-star Cleveland (Ohio) Shaker Heights safety Trey McNutt. He took two trips out to Eugene this spring and took an official visit to Oregon in June. The Ducks hold a 78.1% lead for McNutt on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine and On3 Vice President of Recruiting and Transfer Portal Steve Wiltfong has an On3 RPM pick in for Oregon.
This recruitment is far from over, however, as McNutt plans to take his recruitment into the fall. Ohio State is expected to host McNutt for an official visit this season and he told Lettermen Row at the On3 Elite Series in May that he feels at home in Columbus.
“…And I mean, I haven’t said that I don’t like Ohio State because Ohio State is home and I’ve always been talking to Coach Guerreri, like me and him talk every day. Our recruitment hasn’t changed.”
DL Malik Autry
New Ranking: No. 212
Previous Ranking: Unranked
Lettermen Row’s take: Four-star Opelika (Ala.) defensive tackle Malik Autry received a sizable ranking bump in the updated On300 going from an unranked three-star to the No. 212 overall prospect. Ohio State hosted the Auburn commit for an official visit in June the Buckeyes are working to flip him from the Tigers. On3’s Steve Wiltfong noted over the weekend that Ohio State is the school best positioned to flip Autry from Auburn.
RB Anthony Rogers
New Ranking: No. 213
Previous Ranking: No. 208
Lettermen Row’s take: Ohio State is in search of a third running back in the 2025 class and despite his five spot drop in the updated On300, four-star Montgomery (Ala.) Carver running back Anthony Rogers is a prospect the Buckeyes would like to add. The 5-foot-8 and 185-pound Rogers, nicknamed Turbo, visited Columbus for the first time in May and he recently told On3’s Steve Wilfong that he will tak official to Ohio State this fall.
WR Phillip Bell
New Ranking: No. 233
Previous Ranking: No. 233
Lettermen Row’s take: The Buckeyes already have three wide receivers committed in the 2025 class but Ohio State wide receivers coach Brian Hartline wants to add one more and four-star Phillip Bell III out of Mission Viejo (Calif.) is one of his top targets. Bell, the No. 233 prospect in the updated On300, officially visited Georgia and Washington in May then Penn State, Ohio State and USC in June.
The Buckeyes have a commanding 83.6% lead on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. On3 Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons has an On3 RPM pick in for Bell to Ohio State and he reported on Monday that Bell is considering a late summer decision.
RB Shekai Mills-Knight
New Ranking: No. 237
Previous Ranking: Unranked
Lettermen Row’s take: Chatagona (Tenn.) Baylor School running back Shekai Mills-Knight went from unranked three-star to the No. 237 overall prospect in the updated On300 and he is another prospect that Ohio State is recruiting for that third running back spot. The 6-foot-2 and 210-pound prospect is expected to visit Ohio State for the first time in late July, according to On3’s Steve Wiltfong, and he has a close relationship with running backs coach Carlos Locklyn.
S Messiah Delhomme
New Ranking: No. 244
Previous Ranking: No. 244
Lettermen Row’s take: Ohio State is still after four-star Newport News (Pa.) Warwick safety Messiah Delhomme, despite having three safeties committed and continuing to recruit Trey McNutt.
The 6-foot-1 and 200-pound Delhomme visited Ohio State in April and returned to Columbus for an official visit in June. He also took official visits to Virginia Tech, Virginia and Maryland.
Delhomme told Lettermen Row’s Alex Gleitman after his Ohio State official visit that he plans to announce his college commitment in August. Ohio State holds a 54.0% lead for Delhomme, the No. 192 overall prospect in the On3 Industry Rankings, on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine with Michigan in second.
