Rusty’s Ramblings: Good news coming for the Bulldogs?
Georgia started off what could be a big week in recruiting on Sunday when Thomas Dale (Chester, Va.) cornerback Shamari Earls flipped to the Bulldogs from South Carolina. I am told this one has been over with behind the scenese since his official visit a couple weeks ago.
Donte Williams and Travaris Robinson both worked on that recruitment hard and they got it done. He is an elite cornerback prospect with his size and measurables. I love what I see out of him and it would not surprise me to see him end up with a fifth-star before this cycle is over with.
*** Another big UGA defensive back target is set to make his decision on Monday in four-star Jaylan Morgan. The 5-foot-11, 190 pound safety prospect from Tennessee is set to decide between Georgia, Florida, Ole Miss and Mississippi State. Donte Williams is also the lead recruiter here, I am told. I have liked Georgia’s chances here for a while.
*** Another prospect I continue to believe will end up in Athens, sooner rather than later, is Jahzare Jackson. The 6-foot-10, 330 pound offensive tackle prospect took visits to Georgia, Florida, Florida State and Mississippi State in the span of a few weeks. All of those schools worked out the former basketball player and quickly offered him. He is class of 2024, so he will be on a campus soon after he decides. I think Georgia is in a very good spot here.
It is July, it is hot, and a lot of decisions are going to be made around the country. It should be a big week for the Bulldogs.
