Miami climbs into top 10 of On3 Team Recruiting Rankings following top-75 commit

Miami’s latest commitment from four-star interior offensive lineman Seuseu “SJ” Alofaituli propelled the Hurricanes into the top 10 of the On3 Team Recruiting Rankings for the first time in the 2025 recruiting cycle — and, more importantly, puts the Canes well on track to land their third straight top-10 recruiting class after finishing with the No. 8 class in 2023 and No. 5 class in 2024.

Miami began the week No. 19 in the team recruiting rankings’ top 20 before landing commitments from IMG Academy four-star linebacker Gavin Nix, Jacksonville (Fla.) Mandarin four-star safety Hylton Stubbs and Alofaituli from Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman Monday, Thursday and Friday, respectively, giving the Hurricanes 17 total commits in the 2025 class and 12 four-star pledges. The Hurricanes now sit at No. 10 ahead of Oklahoma, Auburn, Tennessee, Penn State and Texas.

Analysis: SJ Alofaituli may be Mario Cristobal’s best IOL commit as Miami’s head coach

Miami’s team rankings score of 90.973, which is calculated by determining the average recruit score of a school’s top 14 commits, places the Hurricanes within striking distance of FSU, Texas A&M, Notre Dame and Clemson, who sit at No. 9 through No. 6 in the team recruiting rankings, respectively. Miami is still more than a full point behind LSU, Georgia, Oregon, Alabama and Ohio State in the five of the team rankings but can still climb this summer with decisions expected from top On300 prospects like cornerback Ben Hanks Jr. and interior offensive lineman Cortez Smith.

Miami is one of four schools ranked in the top 10 yet to earn a five star commit (along with Notre Dame, Texas A&M and Clemson) but is still in play for several five-star targets like No. 1 cornerback DJ Pickett, No. 4 receiver Dallas Wilson, No. 5 receiver Jaime Ffrench and No. 6 receiver Vernell Brown, all of whom took official visits to Miami last month. Wilson remains committed to Oregon while Brown and Pickett are looking to announce decisions this summer.

Ohio State, Oregon and Georgia have each landed three five-star pledges in the cycle after No. 1 receiver Dakorien Moore committed to the Ducks last night. LSU has landed two, including No. 1 overall prospect Bryce Underwood.

Miami is the only team ranked in the top 10 yet to land a prospect in the top 50 of the On3 Industry Ranking, although Stubbs and Alofaituli are both top-75 prospects. However, only three teams in the top 10 have more four-star commits than the Hurricanes (Texas A&M, Alabama and Ohio State).
