Kentucky Starting to Build a Relationship with 3-Star SF Adam Tyson

Kentucky Starting to Build a Relationship with 3-Star SF Adam Tyson

It’s early in the recruitment of 2026 three-star forward Adam Tyson, but he’s got plenty of schools involved. Kentucky is the latest school to enter the mix after the recent contact period.

The 6-foot-6 small forward from Oxford (MS) High School told KSR+ that Kentucky assistant coach Cody Fueger reached out shortly after the contact period for 2026 recruits began on June 15. It was his first time hearing from anyone on the Kentucky staff.

“He just said he wants to build a relationship and he’s going to keep watching me,” Tyson said. “He said he’ll see me at Peach Jam and whenever they can see me.”

Tyson is starting to get to know the new staff at Kentucky. He said the new roster “looks pretty good right now.”

“It’s a blue-blood, so they’re the best of the best,” Tyson said. “I like their player development. It seems like every year, they’re putting someone in the league and putting someone in a position to provide for their family and themselves.”

Tyson said he and Fueger haven’t talked about a visit yet. It’s something he’ll be interested in the future.

“I will be looking into it,” he said. “[I want to see] how Coach [Mark Pope] runs practice, what they pay attention to, how they run their offense, if it’s around one player or if everybody eats.”

His Wider Recruitment

Adam Tyson has been very busy the last couple of weeks. He heard from the likes of Tennessee, Alabama, Arkansas, Kansas, Iowa State, SMU, Baylor, Iowa, Louisville, and Ole Miss during the contact period.

“It makes me feel like they’re watching and it makes me feel good,” he said. “I’m just going to keep working, stay on the grind, and get ready for the next level.”

Tyson has been on unofficial visits to both Ole Miss and Alabama so far. He broke down both trips:

Ole Miss: “I like the way Coach [Chris] Beard runs his practice. I’m a defensive player and they work on defense a lot. He focuses on the smaller details of it, making sure they get up the line and get in gaps. I just like the way he runs his practice.”

Alabama: “It was good. I didn’t watch their whole practice, but I watched them play Tennessee. It was a good game, of course. They had a tough loss, but they never stopped. They kept going even when they were down. They never let down.”

Tyson said he’s supposed to take a visit to Louisville soon, but doesn’t know the date. He’s working with some coaches to set other dates.

“The main thing [I’m looking at] is player development,” Tyson said. “I want to get a higher IQ and become an overall better player.”

Adam Tyson’s Game

Three-star forward Adam Tyson of Oxford (MS) is the nation’s No. 88 overall prospect, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media services. He is ranked as the No. 28 small forward and the No. 131 overall prospect in the 2026 class by On3.

“My greatest strengths are my shooting ability, getting downhill, being aggressive, making the right plays, and actually feeding my teammates in the right ways where they can succeed,” Tyson said.

Tyson is working to improve his ball handling this summer. He’s also looking to improve at getting downhill and getting to his spots.

“I want to be more aggressive and physical,” he said. “If I commit to Kentucky, they will be getting a great player, a player who wants to win, and a player who will do anything for his teammates and the coaching staff.”
