4-star DL Zion Williams explains why LSU landed his commitment
2025 Lufkin (Tex.) defensive lineman Zion Williams committed to LSU, he announced on Twitter on the 4th of July. The four-star defensive tackle is a massive land for LSU defensive line coach Bo Davis, spoke about his decision to head to Baton Rouge.
“Why LSU? It instantly felt like home when I first visited the school,” Williams told On3 ahead of his decision. “It was like Lufkin where I knew my way around and felt comfortable in my surroundings.”
Davis hosted his multiple times for visits since heading to his alma mater to be the defensive line coach. He hosted him for multiple visits, including an official visit in June that set the bar high.
“I love coach Bo (Davis). When I first met him, we just had this connection,” Williams said. “We just built a great relationship and he’s a man I trust to get me right.”
Williams is a centerpiece for Davis when it comes to rebuilding LSU’s defensive line and was feeling like a Tiger earlier this year. He took official visits to TCU, Texas and Texas A&M before sticking with his gut and committing to the Tigers..
“Ultimately, I kinda knew it would be LSU this Spring, but still wanted to give other schools a chance. But the more I visited Baton Rouge, the more I knew this was my home.”
Williams is the No. 366 overall player, No. 31 defensive lineman and No. 54 prospect in Texas, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
