For the second time, former Alabama men’s basketball player Darius Miles has been denied bond. A hearing took place on Wednesday morning at the Tuscaloosa County Courthouse. Miles has been in jail since Jan. 15 after being indicted with capital murder.
Circuit court judge Daniel Pruet overlooked the hearing, making the same decision as the district court judge. The initial hearing took place back in February, nearly a month after the fatal shooting of Jamea Harris took place in Tuscaloosa.
Miles is not believed to be the one who killed Harris but did supply the firearm. Michael Davis has been indicted alongside Miles and is thought to be who pulled the trigger.
According to the Tuscaloosa News, Davis was supposed to have a bond hearing on Wednesday as well. However, it’s been pushed back to late July as Davis’ attorney has filed for youthful offender status. Pruet will be in charge of that hearing as well but for now, the state of Alabama is undergoing a background check on Davis.
