Four-star quarterback Blake Hebert recaps weekend visit to Penn State
Penn State extended a handful of new scholarship offers in the 2025 class over the past week, one of which went to Massachusetts quarterback Blake Hebert. Listed at 6-foot-2, 213 pounds, Hebert has been on the staff’s radar for well over a year now, attending a game in Nov. 2021 as well as camping with the staff last summer.
While both trips were informative, this was his first opportunity to spend an entire day with the staff. The Central Catholic prospect also made it clear that this was an offer he had coveted.
“Yeah, it’s definitely a big one. I mean, it’s Penn State. Everyone loves Penn State,” Hebert said. “They’re a massive program, massive fan base. It’s a big one, for sure.”
Hebert went on to add, “The visit was great. We actually started off at the bowling alley. We had a fun time there and then went back to the facility to tour the place and talk X’s and O’s. All of the time back at the facility was mainly about us hanging out and building on our relationship.”
Prior to the visit, Hebert had a handful of prior conversations with Penn State offensive coordinator Mike Yurcich. He said one of the biggest takeaways from spending the day with him is how “like-minded” they are.
“I think when I was sitting down in the film room [with Coach Yurcich], I really took away how like-minded we are,” Hebert said. “I liked a lot of the stuff they were drawing up and how they see me and my strengths fitting in with what they want to do. That’s super important to me. It was good to get that feel.”
So far, Hebert has earned over a dozen scholarship offers. In addition to Penn State, his list includes Power Five programs Boston College, Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Carolina, Ole Miss, Pitt, Purdue, Rutgers and Virginia Tech.
With June just a week away, on-campus prospect camps will likely keep him busy throughout the next month, as Hebert already has a few stops planned.
“I got a couple things planned this summer,” Hebert said. “I’m planning to get out to Clemson, Tennessee and Wake Forest. I believe going to get out to Ole Miss, too. They’re all mainly to camp, although I’m sure I’ll visit with their coaches some, too. As far as just visits, I know we’ve talked to North Carolina about coming there in the summer, too.”
As for when he’ll return to Penn State, Hebert made it clear that he’d like to camp again at some point next month to work with Yurichc.
“I think if a camp doesn’t work out, I’ll definitely find a time to visit,” he said. “But I am looking forward to camping with Penn State’s coaches again. I camped last year and really enjoyed it. I want to work with their coaches more, especially now that I have an offer.”
Hebert holds a 92 overall rating by On3, making him a high four-star prospect. He’s currently ranked No. 65 nationally and is the sixth-ranked quarterback in the Class of 2025.
