Houston Kaahaaina-Torres commitment: What does it mean for Nebraska?
Nebraska is stringing together some commitments very early in the dead period. The Huskers added their second offensive lineman to the class with a commitment from Houston Kaahaaina-Torres from Honolulu (Hawaii) St. Louis.
Here is a breakdown of Houston Kaahaaina-Torres and what his commitment means for Nebraska:
1. Kaahaaina-Torres’s most recent film has him playing right tackle, but as a sophomore, the 6-foot-3 and 293-pound lineman played center. Coach Donovan Raiola has shared with Kaahaaina-Torres that he is being recruited to play center.
2. There was a little more than a year between Kaahaaina-Torres’s unofficial visit in 2023 and official visit in 2024. The timing was just right for him to return to Lincoln and see the completed facilities, and check out the other improvements that he had been hearing about.
3. Kaahaaina-Torres mentioned after his official visit in June that when he last saw Nebraska facilities, he had to wear a hard hat. “I was blown away when I was checking it out,” Kaahaaina-Torres said. “It’s some next-level stuff. It was under construction when I was there last time.”
4. The Raiola name is well known in Hawaii. Nebraska assistant coach Donovan Raiola played for Kamehameha High School, and his brother, former Nebraska offensive lineman Dominic Raiola (and father of Nebraska quarterback Dylan Raiola), played at St. Louis High School just like Kaahaaina-Torres.
5. The film below is from Kaahaaina-Torres’s sophomore year, with clips of him playing center. When he was younger, he had his hands full most of the time, playing against larger defensive linemen. Kaahaaina-Torres has added size from one year to the next. He’s added over 20 pounds to his frame and now has the experience of playing in space at the tackle position.

6. This one was close for Nebraska. Kaahaaina-Torres shared with me that this was a tough decision for him to make. It was very clear in talking with Kaahaaina-Torres that Michigan State made a big impression on him during his official visit to East Lansing.
7. Nebraska is nabbing the No. 1 player from Hawaii for the second straight year. The Huskers landed Preston Taumua from Waipahu (Hawaii) in the 2024 recruiting class. Before Taumua last year, Nebraska signed linebacker Wynden Ho’ohuli from Mililani (Hawaii) in the 2021 class.
