Miami standing out to 2026 in-state ATH DJ Williams, who will visit later this summer

Miami standing out to 2026 in-state ATH DJ Williams, who will visit later this summer

Following a spring game visit to Miami, Tampa (Fla.) Carrollwood Day class of 2026 athlete DJ Williams has remained high on the Hurricanes. A lot of that is thanks to Canes cornerbacks coach Chevis Jackson, who has made him feel like a top priority.

“I was just on FaceTime with him last week,” Williams told CaneSport at the UA Future 50 in Bradenton. “We were talking about me getting back down there later this summer.”

In the coming months, the 6-1, 160-pound two-way playmaker will be making his way back to Coral Gables. Williams is hoping to not only grow his bond with Jackson but with the entire Canes staff.

“I’m looking forward to building my relationship with the entire staff along with Coach Jackson,” Williams said. “They’ve all reached out to me, and I’ve received a ton of letters and even some from Coach (Mario) Cristobal.”

Williams raved about his first experience in Miami, which has built his excitement for his return to South Florida. According to the On3 Industry Ranking, Williams is the No. 348 overall prospect right now in the 2026 class.

“It’s great down there,” Williams said. “Very good campus; it’s a loving environment and very truthful. It’s not just a place where they’re going to let you slide by easily; they’re also going to give you a great education.”

As far as the Hurricanes play on the field, Williams explained that the connection between players and coaches is what stands out to him the most.

“I would say the staff is very active and empowering for the kids,” Williams said. “You can also tell they’re building a great relationship with the players.”

Along with the Hurricanes, Williams says Louisville is near the top of his list of programs at the moment. When looking at a school, he says academics and life after football are two of his top priorities.

“For me, it’s definitely more about the academics,” Williams said. “And more of what can the program do for me after football for the next 50 years or so.”

CaneSport’s take

The Hurricanes’ defensive staff is extremely high on Williams, who is also being recruited as a wide receiver by several programs. Jackson has done a great job of making the in-state athlete feel wanted by the Canes, which has solidified them as one of his top programs early on.
