Izaiah Wright, 2026 RB, earns Tennessee offer

Izaiah Wright, 2026 RB, earns Tennessee offer

June has become more important than ever in college football recruiting, both for hosting official visitors and identifying young talent. One 2026 prospect who caught Tennessee’s eye with his camp performance last week was Michigan running back Izaiah Wright.

Wright (5-foot-10, 200 pounds), from Rockwood, Mi., made the long trip to Knoxville to take part in camp last week and get his first look at the Tennessee program.

Both parties had strong first impressions of one another.

Wright loved what he saw from Tennessee, and left town with an offer after showing what he could do in the camp setting.

“I feel like I performed well today. They told me that I read a good 40-time. I thought I did a good job in agility drills and in individuals, then came out here in one-on-ones and did a good job,” Wright said.

Such ‘a good job’ in fact that new Tennessee running backs coach De’Rail Sims extended Wright an offer after watching him work.

“The excitement when I got the offer from Coach Sims was through the roof,” Wright said. “When I got here and saw the facilities I was just like ‘man, it would be like a dream to play here.’

“Then I was talking to him and he let me know that he really liked the way that I performed and competed and he let me know that they were offering me, then he told me to keep working.

“He told me that with me only being 2026 he was going to keep watching me throughout the process.”

Tennessee is the first offer from Wright from an SEC program. He is already holding early offers from Pitt, Indiana, West Virginia, Minnesota and Indiana.

It’s obviously very early in the process for Wright, and the Big Ten schools have only just started to circle, but Tennessee made a strong impression that left him wanting to learn more about the Vols.

“I definitely want to come back down for another visit and go to a game. I really want to try and get to a night game,” Wright said.

“Just seeing the videos of the environment here has made me want to come down and get to a game for sure.”
