Top Ole Miss target Shekai Mills-Knight announces Top 8

Baylor School (Tenn.) running back Shekai Mills-Knight has finally narrowed down his search. The three-star prospect has named Ole Miss, Auburn, Michigan, Missouri, Tennessee, Ohio State, Miami and Alabama the finalists.

Ole Miss is the favorite, per his On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. The Rebels lead at 36.7 percent with Tennessee in second at 16.3 percent. An outside to keep an eye on might be Ohio State. The Buckeyes missed out on Jordan Davison Friday and could turn up the heat on Mills-Knight.

Sources tell OMSpirit the Rebels are the team to beat, though. The Canada native recently took his official visit to Ole Miss with his family and the returns were extremely positive. There’s a familiarity in Oxford with former high school teammate Brycen Sanders as well as pro-Ole Miss people around him in Chattanooga. Not to mention the fact Kevin Smith and the Rebels were his first offer. This resonated with him almost immediately and it seems to be a sticking point.

Lane Kiffin and his staff have made it very clear to Mills-Knight he is a priority.

The offer from the Wolverines really got Mills-Knight’s attention and the Crimson Tide are a big-time program in his eyes. But, Ole Miss is the presumed leader and have been for some time. Smith and analyst, former player Enrique Davis have put in the work and then some here.

“When I saw ‘Kevin Smith’ on the screen I got excited,” Mills-Knight said. “He asked me how my day was and all my friends and teammates were circled around me. Then he told me I had an offer and he wants to sign me. It was amazing.

“I’m actually an Ole Miss fan,” Mills-Knight said. “I’m a fan of the program and Quinshon Judkins. I stayed with my teammate when I first moved to Chattanooga and his family are big Ole Miss fans. So my fanhood started early and now they’re a Top 10 program and having a ton of success.”
